The company pushed out GeForce Experience 3.0 yesterday—a comprehensive redesign of the popular software found on “tens of millions” of GeForce graphics card-equipped PCs, but one sure to rile some nerves at the same time.

The story behind the story: As promised since last October, Nvidia’s now forcing you to log in to use GeForce Experience, via Facebook, Google, or an Nvidia account tied to your email address. That burns—especially after you’ve already forked over hundreds of dollars for a GeForce graphics card—but fortunately, the company isn’t locking its vaunted Game Ready drivers behind GFE registration as previously threatened. When asked if there are plans to do so in the future, an Nvidia spokesperson said, “You can still get the drivers outside of GFE.” Hostage situation averted.
On the other hand, today NVidia apparently wasn't happy about the fact that I hadn't "upgraded" yet, so they DISABLED all of the Geforce features (including game capture) on my computer until I installed the update. If you want to use the features you've gotten used to like game capture, better fork over your email address.
Better title would be Nvidia forces registration to use experience
Better title would be Nvidia forces registration to use experience
Yeah that would be more accurate, sorry. If a mod could change the title that'd be helpful.
I'm glad AMD doesn't force it, if you want to use their equivalent software you need an account. If you just want the fucking driver software, you can just install the driver software.
lets not forget they also broke directx9 shader backwards compatability. so they broke fallout new vegas and you can only play if you rollback to july.
What is nVidia's purpose for forced registration? Just advertising? It's not like people are pirating the geforce experience software.
lets not forget they also broke directx9 shader backwards compatability. so they broke fallout new vegas and you can only play if you rollback to july.
Well thank fuck I haven't updated in months.
lets not forget they also broke directx9 shader backwards compatability. so they broke fallout new vegas and you can only play if you rollback to july.
How did they manage that?
How did they manage that?
"No one uses it anymore, whoo cares." Meanwhile TF2 and more still use it.

Also if you use your google account (or add it later) you can also use the Share option to directly upload to youtube if you so desire. You can actually get around the "forced update": https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/963302/geforce-experience/how-to-solve-all-problems-and-issues-with-geforce-experience-3-0/ I'm personally not mad about the account thing, I just hate that they released 3.0 in that state. It is still filled with bugs and has less features than 2.X had. Thats the thing that pisses me off the most.
While I could just use the google account for this to get into it relatively painfully, I won't because fuck them. Geforce experience was always trash anyways, the only reason to use it would be shadowplay.
The updater crashed because it uninstalled itself. And I can't download it manually from the website because the link is broken. Fuck this shit lol
I was wondering if there would ever be a thread about this. This is quite honestly the worst update I've ever experienced, and I immediately rolled back to 2.11 after trying 3.0 out (2.11 is old enough that it doesn't require the auto-update). 3.0 is significantly slower and sluggish when trying to record gameplay, the new overlay UI is obnoxiously annoying, it has a noticeable performance impact on some of my games, and the forced registration is so unneeded. In fact when I tried to create an account the day it updated, it kept timing out during registration and was virtually unusable for a good 2 days. I only use this crap software for ShadowPlay, and Nvidia increasingly makes it harder to stand using this shit. I've had to create a custom shortcut that boots directly into ShadowPlay and ignores the rest of the software.
Who the fuck would want to sync game graphics configurations between computers I don't know about you guys, but I tweak my settings based on the computer's hardware I want to use the game on...
I guess that can make things convenient for the consumer but that still seems like something that should be totally optional. I mean they're probably going to be facing backlash for making registering required but so far I don't see a justifiable reason for having it so.

(Yes, that includes almost impactless recording with NVENC.)

GFE always botches my driver updates. After having to use Display Driver Uninstaller about ten times I finally ditched GFE forever in favor of direct driver downloads. If 3.0 were actually to address these problems I'd be all for it, but it sounds like another buggy mess.
The updater crashed because it uninstalled itself. And I can't download it manually from the website because the link is broken. Fuck this shit lol
Had the same thing, but after hitting download a few times on the website it started Edit. They changed ShadowPlay to Share and made that way more confusing than it needs to be. All this is so unnecessary.
"No one uses it anymore, whoo cares." Meanwhile TF2 and more still use it.
I just booted up TF2 and it went fine, is the broken thing exclusive to Fallout: New Vegas? That'd be a bummer, I was just saving up for it :saddowns: I'm on 372.54 btw

Hilariously 3.0 was made with the express purpose of fixing the 2.0 bugs. This is ironic
I can't even get 3.0 to work. Just says "Sorry, something went wrong. Try restarting Geforce Experience." over and over. Reinstalls don't fix it, DDU removal and reinstallation doesn't fix it. I'm on 2.2 or whatever and I can't even get shadowplay to work, I hit the button and it hitches the game for a moment before the symbol shows a cross through it, as if the program just crosses its arms and says "nuh uh".

For anyone that's still willing to deal with GeForce Experience, I went and uploaded the installer for version 2.11 on my dropbox. This version's old enough that it doesn't force the auto-update, at least for me. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7835823/GeForce_Experience_v2.11.4.0.exe Just please go easy on my Dropbox. :pudge:
FO:NV works fine with the BF1 Game Ready drivers.
So the driver after the one I have installed is the one I should avoid until Nvidia fixes the issue or releases a new one?
