Throbbing Gristle are an English avant-garde music and visual arts group that evolved from the performance art group COUM Transmissions. The band consist of Genesis P-Orridge (aka Neil Megson - bass guitar, violin, vocals, vibraphone), Cosey Fanni Tutti (guitars, cornet, vocals), Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson (tapes, found sounds, horns, vibraphone, synthesizer), and Chris Carter (synthesizers, tapes, electronics). Throbbing Gristle has been widely considered the sole founder of industrial music.
Samples: So yeah, Throbbing Gristle are pretty much the founders of industrial, alongside Cabaret Voltaire and Einsturzende Neubauten. It's some pretty bizzare music, probably some of the most disturbing and depressing music I've ever heard, and I use the term "music" pretty loosely here. Of course, it's pretty great.
Does the dog play an instrument?
"Wreckers of civilisation" the Daily Mail called them. Genesis P-Orridge looks like this these days: Yes, he has breast implants. He bought him and his wife matching pairs. But he's also a very intelligent man, and his philosophies are a lot like Aleister Crowley's. He used to be in a performance group with Cosey Fanny Tutti as well, they basically used to just shit on each other and hit each other with hammers
I can remember Mikael Akerfeldt mentioning these guys in a Metal Hammer interview, always meant to give them a listen
I have 20 Jazz Funk Greats. I like how it's not a jazz-funk album and there isn't 20 songs. It is great though.
Ween ripped them off with 12 Golden Country Greats
other than the titles, there is absolutely nothing in common between the two albums
other than the titles, there is absolutely nothing in common between the two albums
That's what I was aiming at. The album titles had very little to do with the overall sounds of the albums.
lol okay
