Let's Make a (Classic) Rock Album(?) - Interest Gauging Thread

Would anyone be interested in making a classic rock based album? I'm talking genres spawned in the 60s through the late 70s, anything in there, be it Beatles inspired or Boston inspired, or Rush or whatever it may be. I'm thinking about doing either this, or an album that is just open to everyone, as long as the songs are played using at least one real instrument etc etc. Obviously this is much more specific than that, but I still think it would be very cool
The other idea I have is basically requiring each participant to add one element to at least one other participant's song, if it be recording or re-recording a bass part for them, writing a drum part, doing a vocal part, or whatever, really. I think it would be really fun to collaborate that way in each other's songs rather than just having all of our songs together.
So tell me what you think of the general idea. Is anyone interested in this?

I forgot to mention, I'm going to do both either way, just don't know which one to do first
after I do both of those I want to try to do a metal album collab

what inspired me to do this
UFO - Strangers in the Night (1979)

I'm very much interested, I'll be getting a v-amp soon which will probably work a lot better in terms of recording much higher-quality stuff than my current setup.
This sounds like fun. I've never done anything like this before, but I got all the necessary equipment so I might give classic rock a shot.
I'd be up for both of the albums.
time to get my prog britches on
my 4 speaker marshall is ready...
are there marshalls with less than four speakers?

of course there are
but we call those eunuchs because they are missing their balls
truth bomb
I was hoping people would comment on what they thought about the collaboration idea posted in the OP
going to bump this thread one more time
desperately
Well, rock collab albums never work on FP.
The collab idea is nice but I doubt it'd work in practice. Let people collab if they want, but don't force it? Just do it how the other albums do it.

the last time I saw someone try it, the album was near completion but the OP just disappeared so it was never finished.

Well I don't really want to force it but I really want to encourage it. I was thinking of having some "opt-out" thing where if you really didn't want to you didn't have to do it or whatever.

so make rock album and wait 40 years?
good idea :>
not funny ):
Might do a beatles style kinda song if I get my recording thing soon.
I can help on the bass side of things if anyone needs it. I have pretty good recording equipment.
I just have a question, isn't classical rock actually Rock influenced by Classical music? Like, there is little to no blues involved and the whole theory behind it is all classical, a very good example of a classical rock band is Iron Maiden.
Anyways, I'll see if I can come up with something, but I'll probably need someone to do an electric guitar and some drums, don't count me in yet though :v:
little to no blues involved in iron maiden are you joking? look at the structures and tonalities of their songs.
there's no debussy or chopin in there
I haven't heard Iron Maiden in ages, you're probably right, I'll try to look into it when I get home and have some sound.

Classical =/= classic
Haha, yes I realise the ignorance now :v:
iron maiden is metal fyi so no
and they are also 80s
Can someone clarify the genre difference between iron maiden/metallica metal, and double-bass drop b screamo metal?
Can someone clarify the genre difference between iron maiden/metallica metal, and double-bass drop b screamo metal?
Iron Maiden-metal are usually more slowpaced and have long songs about pretty much anything that isn't love and usually the topics are presented through stories, musically it is heavily focused on tight riffing and numerous tempo changes throughout the song, and most songs span over 3-4 minutes and often as long as 8-9 minutes.
Metallica-metal (thrash metal) is usually really fast, never really talks about love (and if they do it isn't the kind that is presented between two people who love eachother) and deals heavily with death and human society. The songs are also heavily based on tight riffing and even though it does incorporate tempo changes it is most of the time pretty much straightforward and employs lightning-fast solos throughout the song that showcases the technique of the guitarist.
Both are similar (they share the same genre after all) but also widely different.
Last time there was a thread like this, I made a song, and the thread went dead. Still have that song.
Then you can use that for this. I'll be making the thread soon

"screamo drop D" metal is a recent development, obviously being characterized by singing that is impossible to understand, low low tuning, blast beats, and double bass, lyrics usually being about something gorey or christian (lol). You should simply read up on the history of metal.

this explains all
I'll work on something later and hope this works out.
Are you talking covers of classic rock songs or making our own songs with genres from that time period? Either way, I'd fucking love to participate. Guitar player, here. Can also play (very little) bass if needed.
