Colorado Springs, Colorado.[/sub]
BLACK FOREST —El Paso County Sheriff's Office fire crews are at the scene of a fire on Shoup Road and Highway 83 that was first reported about 2 p.m. The fire is a near the 12600 block of Peregrine Way near Black Forest Regional Park. Officials have expanded the evacuation area twice since the fire was first reported Tuesday afternoon.
The Fort Carson Fire Department and the 4th CAB are preparing to support airdrop firefighting efforts in the Black Forest community. Command and control teams from Fort Carson’s Directorate of Emergency Services and the 4th CAB are heading to the El Paso County Incident Command Post to establish ground communications with air crews. Once helicopter crews have positive communication with the ICP, they will depart from Butts Army Airfield and provide water drops as needed. The plus side for me is my home isn't in the fire line this time. From my backyard I can see the smoke very clearly, it has the capability of burning all of Black Forest down, which sucks. 387+ homes 15K+ acres burned.
Great. I live on the other side of Denver, closer to Boulder, but this still doesn't bode well if fires are starting now.
Counting down the days til they start in California
My brother just left that area to go to Montana as a wild land firefighter. Since he gets paid by the fire, I guess he's wishing he stayed :v: But with that said, I do know a lot of people in the Colorado Springs area and hope everyone's ok.
Im getting the feeling that Colorado Springs is going to be a continuous victim of wildfires from now on.

I dihttp://imgur.com/hICXhB3.jpgttp://imgur.com/hICXhB3.jpgnt realize there were so many of us Coloradan's on here. That's crazy though, don't know that we can see it too well from Denver edit: Had to get over the hill to Parker for a halfway decent shot. [thumb]http://imgur.com/hICXhB3.jpg[/thumb]
It was hazy as shit when I got off work around noon today. That was from a fire in New Mexico though. We've had the news on ever since they reported the fires within state lines and damn it's some grim shit hour after hour. Worst part is we have family in Black Forest and we don't know what's going on with them.

If it weren't for an unusual amount of rain about two weeks ago everything would probably already be on fire. Before that everyone was assuming this was going to be the driest, most dangerous season in years. Last year was terrible as it was.

Emergency Colorado Facepunch meet. :v:
Floyd Kerr Jr., 7, of Colorado Springs is watching the smoke cover BLack Forest area. Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He's not even watching it.
8 thousand acres are already gone and dozens of homes. They can contain it hopefully, however they know it won't be completely out for at least 2 weeks or so.
Doesn't help that it's 90+ degrees and windy as fuck every day
Counting down the days til they start in California
Check back in Late summer/early fall. Someone will have started one around then. I remember a really big one here in So Cal when I was a kid, where I could step outside and see fire coming over the mountains here, and ash falling from the air

I'm loving the photos from FP users. Makes us feel like a family.

I can see the smoke from my house in Aurora, it's pretty huge. Best of luck to the men and women combating the blaze.
Smoke turned towards the front range and our neighborhood took a ton of smoke. It's almost like slowly and annually, the area around us is burning down.
At least nature's giving you plenty of time to run.

I'd give you some but I'm not at home right now :v: On the drive home I'll snap a few.
Can't see anything way up here in Broomfield.
Ya, sucks pretty bad. The air is filled with fucking smoke. Not to mention it is dry and windy as hell. This was taken over by Black Forest
Fuck man, not again. I'm up a ways, in Loveland, but still... I wanted to be able to camp with a fire, without the ranger breaking my balls :(
Wind changed direction again, going hard to the north-north east. I climbed the hill in front of my house to get above the ridge that separates my view of the fire. It sends shivers through my entire body, I can see the flames from up there, entire trees exploding into fireballs.
