new engine upgrades are looking good
Was there an upgrade? It kinda looks the same to me.
Also was that Kevin Conroy?
Troy Baker obviously

Nope, Troy Baker, of course.

Yeah they said they'd make some improvements to their engine for this game and all upcoming titles. Hopefully it means they'll also improve on their animations, as there has been some wonky looking animating in their past titles.
Anyways this game looks pretty interesting so far. Also enjoying the art style, reminds me a lot of The Wolf Among Us.

some upgrades include smoother transitions between animations and lighting effects as far as im aware
I dunno, it seems way too generic as far as a Batman plot goes. Falcone and Harvey Dent? Couldn't they have picked some more obscure villains like Hush that haven't spent much time in the mainstream?
just be glad it isnt THE JOKER IS GONNA BLOW UP THE CITY
That always pisses me off with Batman stuff.
Joker is great, sure, but like, imagine if for all 6 Spider-Man films, all we got was the Green Goblin. Batman has so many good villains, use another one, christ.
Uuugh, I am seriously getting tired of Troy Baker fucking everywhere these days. They could've at least gotten Roger Craig Smith (dude from Arkham Origins) for something similar to Conroy if he wasn't willing to. But no, we got the male equivalent of Jen Hale again.

There are dudes who im fine with seeing in pretty much everything, like Steve Blum or John DiMaggio.
Baker isnt one of them.
Roger Craig Smith and Jim Gordon's replacement were fucking great in Origins.
just be glad it isnt THE JOKER IS GONNA BLOW UP THE CITY
It's not like Falcone and Harvey Dent are that much better. Falcone is in virtually every Batman origins story and the most I can remember of him is that he's your standard Mafia boss type with 0 interesting traits. At least with the Joker you aren't forced to sit through hours of them hinting at Harvey Dent becoming the villain when literally everyone knows he's going to.
just be glad it isnt THE JOKER IS GONNA BLOW UP THE CITY
there is def gonna be joker in it cause there is a friggen giggle at then end of trailer.
Hell might be even that "make sure you're on the right side" guy

Interestingly enough, Troy Baker also played in Arkham Origins. [sp]As The Joker[/sp]
That sounds like a very generic plot, Falcone and Harvey. Boy I wonder where this one will go? The animations for sequences looked a lot smoother but as soon as characters had to stand and talk they looked like animatronics again.
I read in a preview or something that some scenarios in the game you can choose to be Bruce Wayne, or Batman. I'm guessing Batman is the "aggressive" approach, a Bruce is the "Diplomatic/Business" approach.
Probably relates to Alfred's line there of "Make room for Bruce" or something.
troy baker is fine when he's doing something different but he's only ever allowed to do Buzzcut McStubbleBeard, Professional Protagonist
also all these animations look awful
I dunno, it may be interesting to see a more investigation-driven batman instead of the usual action-driven batman we get in games. I mean, batman is an investigator, not just a generic beat-em-up superhero.

You know, that was actually an acceptable appearance from him in my book, because he wasn't just talking into a mic. But putting actual effort into sounding like Joker is supposed to, unlike say, his role as Ocelot in MGSV which was just fucking jarring after the established voice he's had for a while.

Well, he did try for a little bit, but clearly gave up towards the end.
"Let the legend come back to life" sounded like a great middleground between Keaton and Zimmerman. Then he just went Troy Baker.
It has too much stuff that's already been done in the Dark Knight Trilogy, its playing it way too safe for my tastes imo.
Also janky ass animations that they've been using since The Walking Dead S1 are still present :unimpressed:
After Game of Thrones and WD S2, I really don't have much faith in this. TT take themselves too seriously it's boring as shit. I've heard borderlands is meant to be good though, but this looks nothing like that.
Also, fucking Falcone? LMAO. Most boring Batman villain ever.

While he's always been an antagonist and double-crossing all over the place, acting theatrically, here he's serving alongside Snake and is actually an ally to you. He's much more toned down because he isn't an antagonist and doesn't have to act. You'll notice that he acts more like "himself" whenever he's interrogating someone.
It's not perfect, but in most of his lines I feel that he hits a great middle ground between Keaton and Zimmerman.
Troy was fantastic in Tales from the Borderlands btw. I highly recommend it, wish there was more of that.
I dont think the art-style works for batman.
Maybe if it was more camp-y, but well, pseudo-cell shading does not make a complimentary art-style for the gritty universe this games trying to build.
Like reaper from overwatch, its cartoony enough to where the grit and edge fall flat into a miss-matched joke.
Wow, that looked really great in motion.
cant wait for batman to walk around a room and talk to people to get exposition and story every 20m after some QTE combat
just be glad it isnt THE JOKER IS GONNA BLOW UP THE CITY
The only time I make an exception to that is when he's voiced by Mark Hamill.
Can never get enough of the Hamill Joker.

I think that's what hit me when DrunkenOne mentioned changes, and I didn't really see it immediately.

Tales from The Borderlands is pretty great. Until the ending of the final episode.
Hey Telltale, where the fuck is Wolf Among Us season 2?
Bruce looks almost identical to Archer in this.
