"Donald Trump was not authorized to use 'Rockin' In The Free World' in his presidential candidacy announcement," a statement from Young's team read. "Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America."
Always pretty astounded at the ability of huge business people to either not understand, or not care, about copyright laws. Says a lot about it really...

I don't think this is a copyright issue. These people are almost certainly getting licenses from the musicians' labels.
The issue is that they've selected music from an artist whose politics (and the politics of the song itself!) are opposed to theirs. Republicans repeatedly attempting to use Springsteen's "Born in the USA" is probably the most infamous example of this.
If you guys haven't heard Neil Young before, you need to now. Awesome musician

Was. I seen him live a while ago, he played distortion into an amp for 40 minutes, it was shite. Probably the worst concert I've ever been to. That being said it still hasn't sullied my love of his earlier music.
Ha reminds me of this.

Neil Young supports Bernie? Makes me love him even more.
So why did trump think a song that mocks the republican approach to welfare and social policy was a good choice to begin with?

His running for president is in its entirety a publicity stunt. Maybe he or his camp figured this'd be an easy way to get into the headlines

Love whom more? Neil Young or Bernie Sanders?
Read the title as if it was TrumpSC the Hearthstone player we were talking about and felt a tad confused.
How could anybody managing the campaign be so deluded as to miss the sentiments expressed in the song.
I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
Under an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away,
and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life,
and what she's done to it
There's one more kid
that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love,
never get to be cool.
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Poverty can be alleviated through tax breaks on the extremely wealthy, massive deregulation of the financial sector and more military spending.

I wouldn't be surprised if campaign managers just looked up patriotic buzzwords for song titles, then don't bother to read the lyrics.
How could anybody managing the campaign be so deluded as to miss the sentiments expressed in the song.
Reminds me of when people use just the first line of Fortune Son.
