Troubled Facebook game/vacuous money-trap maker Zynga is rushing to cut costs in the wake of its fast falling share price. TechCrunch are reporting that 11 titles are being shut down, including PetVille, Mafia Wars 2, and Vampire Wars, among others. FarmVille remains safe. I know you were worried. While any bad news for Zynga is sure to be received with no small amount of schadenfreude, spare a thought for those genuinely affected. The PetVille Facebook post announcing its closure has been flooded with an outpouring of despair from players. As one user wrote, “My pet is named after my real pet, and has the best mansion! PLEASE DON”T DO THIS!!!!” See, you weren’t thinking about the pet’s mansion were you? You monster. In seriousness, it’s easy to dismiss Zynga’s actions, but core gaming publishers aren’t averse to shutting down servers as games stop being profitable. The difference here is PetVille and its like are supported by microtransactions, and some users will have inevitably spent significant amounts of money in the game. As publishers increasingly experiment with free-to-play options, this is a problem that could increasingly rear its head.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/01/02/zynga-shut-down-11-games-close-japanese-studio/
FarmVille remains safe. I know you were worried.
whew. Heart stopped for a moment there.
Wasn't there something posted last year about the mistreatment at Zynga's various game studios?
god dammit. all i saw was "Zynga Shuts Down..." my hopes and been raised and immediately dashed

Oh, I was getting my hopes up.
Only game I play is Ayakashi, I'm glad the Japanese studio said they will continue to support it.
And nothing of value was lost.
I enjoy Zynga Poker, not fond of any of their other games
And nothing of value was lost.
Other than, you know, quite a few jobs that many innocent people needed.
And nothing of value was lost.
Victory to the internet.
Finally... fook Zynga. All my relatives begged me for money and facebook clicks to fuel those stupid farming games. Especially my cousin, whom I punched once because of this practice.
NOT.... MAFIA WARS 2 MY LIFE IS OVER /WRISTS
Call me curious, but what exactly is so horrible about Zynga? I realise that "vampire wars" doesn't sound like a very interesting game to a lot of people on facepunch but why is the shutting down of other people's games a "victory for the internet." ?

They were sued by EA for copying The Sims Social for this reason. Their CEO also said that they made 1/3 of company profit by scamming their customers back in 2009. [source] There are a lot of other reasons as to why people hate Zynga, such as how almost all of their games involve nothing more but clicking the same thing every X hours and how they have mistreated their employees. You should find more by googling.
Other than, you know, quite a few jobs that many innocent people needed.
Yeah, sucks to be these employees. Still I heard they were treated really badly, like with tight deadlines and forced to work more hours than paid for.
ya man i punch people for playing things i dont like either
" begged me for money and facebook clicks to fuel those stupid farming games."
I didn't have a Facebook until my brother needed a new neighbor in Farmville.
Zynga, it's CTRL + C and CTRL + V, not CTRL + X.
The day FarmVille gets shut down will be the day Facebook starts going on a less shittier trail.
