I don't see why people are getting so upset about it. Anyone with a half a brain could have told you that the amount of traffic their servers would get most likely would cause service outages and other issues.
It's basically impossible to test it beforehand, because where are you going to get such an immense amount of testers from?
It was a pretty bad launch, considering such a massive portion of people are simply unable to play, but it's all pretty understandable I guess
15 million players at once, nobody had to deal with that ever before
i feel you rockstar
Nobody expected perfect launch
It's impossible
The sad thing is people were expecting a perfect launch, I've seen people saying that Rockstar should've just been able to produce enough servers to accommodate the potential 2m extra users than their forecasts predicted, I saw one comment on twitter sarcastically saying couldn't Rockstar have found something in their 265m budget to do an MP beta as if that's the solution to all of their problems.
Not surprised with how big the launch is.

This is what annoys me. I looked at Rockstars support twitter account and so many people are cursing at them and stuff saying shit like this shouldn't be happening.. They are so dumb, but hey, general public.
Kinda sucks but you'd have to be nuts to not have seen it coming
To put it in comparison, World of Warcraft reached 12 million subscribers at it's peak, I'm surprised they've even got some server features up with 15 million at the same time.
I finally connected today.
Took almost 100 attempts.
Worth it.
Still better than SimCity's launch
Basically what happened with simcity except they get a pitiful/accepting "of course that's what was gonna happen" instead of a furious "of course that's what was gonna happen"
Granted, they don't have the undeserved hatred that nerds give EA, but it still feels a bit weird that everyone's so forgiving because it's a game they like by a dev they like :v:
Still trying to get in here

It also has to do with the general tone of a game such as simcity compared to this. EA was basically calling anybody who bought the game morons who had no idea what they're talking about and how it's absolutely impossible to get it to play offline.
Rockstar said there will likely be issues and admitted it wasn't going to be nice at the start.
I don't get all of the hate around the Launch anymore.
Maybe for the first 12-20 hours I had issues connecting but for the last few days its been pretty much perfect for me (like I'd say 95% of the time now there are 0 issues). Not sure if its connection/region specific or something but I know a few of my friends a few miles away still can't get on.
It was a big launch and they acknowledge the issues and are working on them actively to resolve it - not sure if there's much more they could be doing.
The only issue I see is that if people are leveling up and (if) they don't try to pair similar levels, the lower levels will get destroyed against a higher one (with better weapons/cars etc)

Well considering Rockstar was expecting it to happen and warned everyone before hand since they weren't expecting the game to sell this well
meanwhile EA was forcing always online play to be even able to play the game, while with GTA V you still have the single player
As bad as it's online launch was, let's just remember that it didn't affect single player in any way.
Unlike some other recent launches we've seen.

Holy shit 15 million... that sounds like MMO levels. I actually doubt many MMos even had that many players at launch

They dont
Completely expected it, so I'm not mad.
Had about 45 minutes to play today.
I'd say half of that time was spent connecting or loading, the other half was credits as Lamar drove me through the city. I did the first two missions totally about 6 minutes.
you can make it up to us with a pc version :)

WoW didn't have that much at the peak of its popularity
Hey, at least you can play offline single player when their online servers don't work.
Unlike some other games that I'll just leave unnamed.
that's ok
they're actually fixing, not like simcity 5 release
I think Rockstar should of made the tutorial levels skippale, like all it did was show you shit you can do in MP that you did in SP
They could probably easily have solved the server troubles, but that's expensive. And there's no reason to spend that much money when your player counts will drop at a steady rate after launch.
all I wanted to do on launch was shoot shit up with my mates around Los Santos and Blaine County, but I couldn't cause I had to do the damn tutorial missions then joining your crew wasn't working and joining friends was disabled until you did the tutorials
