Yes, death is inevitable — but just how predictable is it?A technique developed by researchers in Finland and Estonia could pinpoint individuals with a high risk of dying within as few as five years by examining their blood.
Would you get it facepunch? I fucking wouldn't.
Can it tell if you're going to be murdered?
Sorry, you're krokodil positive.

"Hm, yes. It seems you have a genetic disposition to being stabbed, I'm afraid. Within 5 years for sure."
I wonder why it's five years and not 4 years and six months. Or 5 years and six months.
If I was the cynical type I'd be suspicious and think they picked 5 years because it sounded like a good number to pick. Far enough in the future that anything could happen, but soon enough so that people are scared "OMG I'm gonna die!"
This sounds exactly like the machine of death.

"The machine had been invented a few years ago: a machine that could tell, from just a sample of your blood, how you were going to die."
This is flawed, they can say "no" and then the person gets pushed in front of a car.

Uh I think your blood would know if something like that would happen
I wouldn't take it, rather die out of the blue than be depressed until I died.

if the blood test is detecting high risk for things, the death it's predicting isn't exactly "out of the blue"
I wouldn't take it, rather die out of the blue than be depressed until I died.
Or you can use it so your family and friends are prepared instead of being a greedy selfish [sp]fart smeller[/sp]
Wouldn't knowing change the outcome? Like "you've got nine months," said to a strong-willed person, that guy is going to fight that prognosis with everything he's got and maybe tack on a few years. Weak-willed person gets told the same thing, dies in a month because they gave up.
Knowing when you're going to die is a huge advantage. I'd do it.
I wouldn't take it, rather die out of the blue than be depressed until I died.
I'd take it. For all I know, it could be preventable. Treatment or even lifestyle changes could potentially be enough to add quite a few years on, or totally avoid that fate entirely.

p sure the idea is to have the ability to catch some diseases early, so that doctors have a chance to stop them from killing you

The idea is to get the exact date so you can fulfill your bucket list by then, scientists say that each list on average takes 5 years
If I give them all my blood will they be able to predict the exact day I die?
Can it tell if you're going to be murdered?
If it can measure how much of an asshole you are, it might be able to estimate that you will be stabbed.
I am a pony fucker. I already know how i am going to die.

Before I turn you loose, I have a form for you to fill out for me to get a sense of your medical history. It's just a formality. Ain't like I expect to find that you've got a family history of getting shot in the head.

krokodil shortens your life span to just one year
well I guess that does fit into the five year criteria but u kno
This could ruin someone's life.
Imagine; You go in for a checkup, are told you have 5 years to live based on this.
You prepare yourself mentally and physically for your death.
You survive.

Probably because the majority of your cells are completely replaced between 5-7 years
