Hey guys, tomorrow is the Bonfire Night. But mrkaki, what is this Bonfire Night? I shall explain it to you with a traditinal rhyme. Remember remember, the fifth of November, The Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason Why the gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot. 404 years ago, in 1604-1605, a catholic group against King James I of England have raised an assassination plot to kill the king, along with the members of 'The House of Parliament'. The plot involved taking down the Westminister Castle (which is beautiful. I've been there) using gunpowder barrels as explosive charges. Everything went successful. Until, a very dumb member of the group was concerned about a catholic member of the parliament who was going to be in the castle too. Without thinking twice, he foolishly sent an anonymous letter to that member, giving the group away. As soon as Lord Monteagle (the catholic member of the parliament) read the letter, on the 26th of October, he had read the note out loud. After the plot was discovered and spread, King James sent Sir Thomas Kynvet to conduct a search in the cellar underneath the Parliament. Not so long later, Sir Thomas died, on the 5th of November. But there was a result, it was nearly occult. For after midnight had a guy stood still. Outside a cellar they rent, had Guy Fawkes went, and there guards have waited until. One of the very involved members of the catholic group was a military veteran who goes by the name Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes used his 10 years of military experience to prepare the barrels of gunpowder for the plot. On the 5th of November, Guy Fawkes was found walking out of the cellar, and was arrested. After a search in that cellar, a few barrels of gunpowder and devices were found. On the 5th of November, a plot raised by catholics to kill King James I of England and IV of Scotland, and members of the House of Parliament, had fallen apart. Now, every year we celebrate the 5th of November around a bonfire and eat delicious baked potatoes. There is also an awesome fireworks display to watch from said bonfire. Hope you prepared some wood for the bonfire, and foil for potatoes to deliciously baked.
tomorrow is a perfect excuse to be an arsonist

I'm going to burn my brother
Holy Christ, i totally forgot. Cheers.
By the way guys, what do you think of my small rhyming thingy? I made it up whilst making the thread. ("But there was a result, it was nearly occult. For after midnight had a guy stood still. Outside a cellar they rent, had Guy Fawkes went, and there guards have waited until.")
I have never baked a potato in a bonfire, but being a pyromaniac i love to start the fire going and keep fueling it to make it bigger and bigger, i love the fireworks too.

Remember, remember the fifth of November, The gunpowder treason and plot, I know of no reason Why the gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot. Fawkes was a cool dude. Before they could hang him he jumped off the gallows and broke his neck. (So they couldn't draw and quarter him)
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent To blow up the King and Parli'ment. Three-score barrels of powder below To prove old England's overthrow; By God's providence he was catch'd (or by God's mercy*) With a dark lantern and burning match. Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring. (Holla*) Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King
Bloody Catholics attempting to blow up the King. :bahgawd:
I'M GONNA BOMB PARLIMENT!!! [BBC News] Parliament closed due to bomb threat.
I'M GONNA BOMB PARLIMENT!!! [BBC News] Parliament closed due to bomb threat.
British Parliament is not some American high school.
And Britain doesn't care about it's terrorist attacks...heck America even has a movie about 9/11 we don't have a movie for our attacks... In fact I haven't even seen any BBC documentaries either.
V for Vendetta is awesome because they made it look like the gunpowder plot conspirators were fighting against tyranny or something, when really they just hated protestants and wanted Catholics to take over.
Tomorrow's my birthday. Yay.

As an American, I will say November 5th is atleast one day England is cooler than the US.
cool -brookefan7977
have a box -awesomedino
What about your independence day?
I feel sorry for all the animals :frown: My dog always gets really stressed even if just a single firework has gone off.
As an American, I will say November 5th is atleast one day England is cooler than the US.
UK is cooler than the US*
Your mother in the independence day penis! What do you mean? England cooler than UK??!? No it's supposed to be "US" no typo.
As an American, I will say November 5th is atleast one day England is luckier than the US.
Fixed. :eng101:
Everyone always misses out the part of the story where the rest of the plotters hold out in a manor against English troops and go down fighting like badasses.
Your mother in the independence day penis!
oh hi there mandatory thread troll
What about your independence day?
I think continuing to celebrate something that happened 1599 years ago is a bit stupid, especially considering all that has happened since.
