Theresa May confirms plans to create international border with passport check points between Scotlan
50 replies, posted
Home Secretary Theresa May says passport checks will be introduced for anyone who wants to cross the 'border' if Scotland votes for independence
‘This would have implications for people travelling to visit family, go on holiday or do business – and for our economies more generally
‘So that would mean border controls. Passport checks to visit friends and relatives. A literal and figurative barrier between our nations.’
The 800,000 Scots who live south of the Border, and the 400,000 English people who live in Scotland would be particularly inconvenienced when trying to visit friends and relatives.

Cool, she can go and fuck herself, just like every other time she opens her mouth.
Sheer bollocks, this would create a serious inconvenience for people who just want to nip over the border for a short time. If I wanted to get a train to Edinburgh I'd have to present my passport 4 times.
Independence is getting more and more unsavory.

That's the whole point. She's trying to get them not to leave.
Papers, Please 2

Defend the English border from drunken Highlanders.
i like how the main merits of voting no are basically advertised as being "we won't make life more difficult for you if you stay ;)"

Purely because there's wankers bigging themselves up to make it that way.
Yes instead of having open borders like virtually the rest of the EU let's resort to petty revenge tactics and just annoy people who have a legitimate reason to travel between England and Scotland, a foolproof plan.
Why is this idiot still Home Secretary again?

Watch out bro, she'll revoke your citizenship and brand you a terrorist!
Yes, I too, wish she would fuck off.
She's pandering to the retards who are convinced that England is the greatest nation that's ever existed, she's just doing it so the nationalists will vote for the conservatives instead of UKIP because they're basically every conservatives wet dream.
Well the independence is pretty much pointless anyway.

Yeah totally, why should a country become independent if they want to, autonomy is silly as shit any way.
Well it really doesn't benefit anyone.
Independence is getting more and more unsavory.
This is the plan, no one in their right would seriously suggest some of the things they have come out with. Its all part of the no campaign, just without saying so.

Scotland has no more reason to become independent than Cornwall or Wales, it's just that there's more misplaced nationalistic nostalgia there.

Apart from the fact that we don't even have full control over what goes on in our own nation? The fact that frankly we're tied to a conservative government that no one wants any part of? Sure that's completely based on hearsay and anecdotes but I've met no one that voted conservatives here.

Even if they were to become independent, the economy would fail before it even started. If the Scottish government really did care about the citizens of Scotland, then they'd vote against it.
Scottish independence is a feeble dream for clueless idiots
still Theresa May is a cunt tho

I hate this argument so much, When Labour's in power, most of the countryside in England isn't in government, that doesn't mean that the entirety of the countryside should declare independence, like wise when the Conservatives are in power most of the cities aren't in government. Just because Scotland doesn't vote conservative doesn't mean that they should be independent, it just means that our electoral system is terrible.

Aye before you know it we'll have devolved into a nation similar to somalia, a nation built solely around coastal piracy as we attack the odd fishing trawler as it passes nearby since our economy would quite literally disappear overnight.

They have shit all exports. What are they going to sell? Mountains and swamps?

Scotland won't be in the EU if they leave, so why would we keep an open borders policy?
Plus, we're not in the Schengen area is it is; so even if Scotland did join the EU, there'd be passport checks.
They have shit all exports. What are they going to sell? Mountains and swamps?
Nah we're gonna continue being a world leader in green energy and continue striking trade deals with China, Russia, Brazil and India, as well as having an effective monopoly on Whisky in all those countries. Not to forget
See while folk have been slamming out scare tactics to stop us from trying to go independent the SNP has been going around the world striking trade deals to makes sure we can hold our own.

ever heard of this thing called scotch?
Cool, she can go and fuck herself, just like every other time she opens her mouth.
I agree with you, but I think she's saying that she wants to avoid people entering England and Wales by entering Scotland first and having no checks prior to this. It kind of makes sense.
Hadrian's Wall V2.

They tried that in the 1800's, went bankrupt and England bought the country for £1.

The only EU official to suggest that is Spanish - He has a good reason to want to discourage Independence movements because they're worried about the Catalonian Independence movement. Other EU officials have called Barraso (I believe that is his name, but I could be wrong) out on his shit, stating that it was a load of bollocks.

I wasn't saying we should base our economy on scotch, I was just naming an export.
