Internauts, today we celebrate this glorious technology that brings us all together! On August 23, 1991 -- 25 years ago today -- the public gained access for the first time to the World Wide Web, designed and deployed by computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in Switzerland.
It gave rise to the internet as we know and use it today.
just think, Sensationalist Headlines wouldn't exist if it weren't for Tim Berners-Lee
that son of a bitch
Imagine a world without Sir Tim.
God bless his soul.
The World Wide Web, not the Internet...
The Internet has been around longer than the web.

a lot easier to call today internaut day, rather than running the birthday off possibly some date in the 1960's that nobody can really agree on

Yeah, but public access to the internet is a pretty big thing too.
Sensational headlines would still not exist in the way it is now, if it weren't for that guy.
Happy bday, Internet. You sure turned into one fucked up asshole.
the creation of hypertext transfer protocol is a better indication for the foundation of the world wide web
If you want to know more about the Web, its invention, and difference between the Internet and the Web:

As ususal, Vsauce doesn't stick 100% to the subject, but it's still pretty informative.

would change it if I could, although I figure most people understand WWW as the essence of what the Internet is

Thanks, Al Gore.
I don't agree with Tim Berners-Lee in many issues, but the WorldWideWeb is an amazing creation.
I'm just a few months older than the world wide web.
Huh. That's a little bit of a weird feeling.
Although I can't imagine what it would feel like for someone who was born on the same day.
