• An attempt at minimalist!

I'm pretty new to making music, I have a couple albums for download but I think this is my best song yet so I just uploaded it as a single track! This will probably be the basis for my next album, though. Hope you enjoy! (I know the album art is kinda shitty, I just needed something to go with it) http://mvjmusic.bandcamp.com/track/mind-games
Hmm. I didn't quite like it. The kick was way too big for minimal, minimal kicks are usually like the transient(the initial attack) and not much more. Then you just sidechain the synths to it and eq everything around the kick so it's properly heard. And, even though I didn't have time to listen to it all, it seemed to have too much variance in patterns. Minimal is more based on modulating synths and subtly changing things than this kind of stuff. Instead of dropping elements in and out, you should fade them more, and change tehm subtly throughout the track. [editline]13th August 2011[/editline] some of the synths, especially that plucky one, were quite good and minimal though. Oh and another thing before I go, make sure to hipass hi frequency synths at around 80 hz so they dont fuck with the kick. It should really change them, but it will make the subbass feel much better
