Photoreceptors are the cells in the retina which react to light and convert it into an electrical signal which can be sent to the brain.
However, these cells can die off in some causes of blindness such as Stargardt's disease and age-related macular degeneration.
There are already trials in people to use stem cells to replace the "support" cells in the eye which keep the photoreceptors alive.

My grandmother is blind right now due to radiation therapy for her brain tumor so this makes me really happy that soon other people wont have to live with this
If only this could also work for blindness associated with visual cortex damage or nerve damage.
Let's just hope this news doesn't fall into obscurity like p much every other related news.
Let's just rub stem cells on everything.

So awhile ago I found out if I don't stop doing games, computer etc. I can go blind at age 21 or 22. I really hope that's a lie though in which I think its not but I don't wanna give up doing that shit like watching tv and such.
