Nothing wrong with stopping violence, but there is definitely something wrong with his idea of how to stop it.

It's not like federal authorities aren't already working with CPD - they are. What more would he like to do? There's not much more out there. Start sending in troops to walk the south and west sides? I think we all can see that'd be a pretty shit idea. But really though, no idea what he's thinking "the Feds!" will do, or who they are.

In reality, what Chicago needs is fuding. Funding for jobs, for social services, for education, etc. That's how the violence can be stopped, that's how it was previously being worked down, not by "sending in the Feds!"

the statistic is a bit skewed because chicago covers such a broad and densely populated area compared to most other cities, so looking at raw numbers is a lot scarier than considering the actual scale of what's going on
