Drum lines will not be deployed off WA beaches this summer after the state's Environmental Protection Authority advised against extending the Government's controversial catch and kill shark policy.
The regulator's chairman, Paul Vogel, said the available information and evidence did not provide the organisation with a high level of confidence.
"At this stage, the available information and evidence does not provide the EPA with a high level of confidence. In view of these uncertainties, the EPA has adopted a cautious approach by recommending against the proposal.
"The EPA can only make a judgment on the impact on the environment. The minister, in making his final decision, may take other matters into consideration."

Shark culls don't work. It's good they're stopping. Now never do it again.
Maybe people should just be more careful when swimming in the fucking ocean. Is that really so hard?

Sharks are more of a problem of fear, paranoia, and accidents. Statistically there are many more things that will kill you in Australia (and the rest of the world for that matter) than sharks.

What I'm saying is shark attacks are a tragic but uncommon occurrence.

I mean, statistically just making it to the beach and down to the water is shitloads more dangerous than the sharks. You get in a car to head to the beach, sharks should be the least of your worries. Or what about broken glass on the beach or drowning? Yeah I'll take my chances with the fish.
It's all Spielbergs fault!

Jaws is responsible for a lot of the fear of sharks, and glory of killing sharks.
Sharks are pretty tame unless you are moving, and even if you are moving just hit it on the nose. The only shark you need to get the fuck away from are tiger sharks.
Sharks just can't catch a break

Sharks don't care if you're moving, either. They're curious so they'll come check you out but chances are unless you're being stupid they won't bite.

Don't forget about Bull Sharks. They're extremely aggressive.

What constitutes being stupid?
splashing or being aggressive towards it

Not being calm and collected, not respecting the sharks space, etc. Shouldn't be touching or grabbing at the shark, harassing the shark, taunting the shark, etc, etc. If you mind your own business you'll be okay around any species of shark.

I'm sorry if a shark came up to me the first thing I would think wouldn't be "Oh hey a shark, stay calm" it's "OH FUCK JESUS SHIT TITS A FUCKING SHARK FUCK THIS *PANIC PANIC PANIC*"
