Note: although this happened in May, it's only making the headlines now.
A 3-year-old boy was alive when his mother began pushing him on a swing in a Maryland park on May 20 and remained in the seat until two days later when authorities found the hysterical parent pushing his deceased corpse. Ji'Aire Donnell Lee died of dehydration and hypothermia before he was finally found by police at Wills Memorial Park at 6:55 a.m. on May 22 about 43 and a half hours after he was first placed into the swing set, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office in La Plata, Md.
Sources: http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Death-of-Charles-County-Toddler-Found-Being-Pushed-in-Swing-Ruled-Homicide-311005961.html http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/boy-3-died-pushed-swing-2-days-article-1.2276884 http://news.yahoo.com/death-maryland-boy-pushed-swing-three-days-ruled-212805331.html
The parent sat and pushed this kid in the swing for 43 hours? Even after the child died? Does this sound mental to anyone else? Oh.
Lee said he had been concerned the boy's mother, Romechia Simms, was suffering from mental illness.
Holy fuck that's messed up.
Honestly sounds like something out of a ghost story.
More interested why the kid died so suddenly
More interested why the kid died
Hypothermia and dehydration.
I thought he died due to something sudden, not fucking hypothermia and dehydration after being pushed on a swing for 43 hours what the fuck
This article is not nearly long enough to explain what the fuck happened
There's probably not enough info. But, the father and the mother had been separated, father tried to convince judge to give him sole custody and expressed concern over the mother's mental health. So, why the child died? Some form of neglect by a mentally unstable mother.
What category of mental illness would this fall under? Are there treatment options available? As a society, we've always just thrown people like this into a mental illness institution, where they're just drugged up so much that they can't stand. But I think we all know that isn't a productive option. How do we change the affect this person will have on society in the future, for the better?
No signs of trauma either, like broken neck, unless they haven't found out yet.
I thought he died due to something sudden, not fucking hypothermia and dehydration after being pushed on a swing for 43 hours what the fuck
For some reason, the first thing that came to my mind was that the mother had pushed the kid so hard he fell off the swing, broke his neck or something and then the mother just kept pushing his dead body on the ground... Either way, that's fucked up... how could something like that even happen - Especially in a public park?
It sounds like the kid was already close to death and she had probably already snapped. I can't imagine she'd be pushing a kid for that long that they'd die of dehydration without already being almost entirely dehydrated.
More interested why the kid died so suddenly
3 days without water can kill a person. This being a toddler obviously can't last as long. This is a really sad story. Really kind of makes you wonder if claims for custody should be taken more seriously and acted upon sooner.
I've honestly seen this before. Don't know if it was here or on some random news site. That's really sad anyway.
Either the mother is mentally ill or she's on some sort of drug. A kid dying cause of dehydration? Well, it's hot as heck during summer, so it just shows supreme neglect that the kid wasn't given some water in a cool environment. Hypothermia, I don't know how that happened though.
This article is not nearly long enough to explain what the fuck happened
Mentally ill mother takes her 3/yo son to the park and starts pushing him on the swing. She keeps pushing him for nearly two days straight without sleeping or eating until she's found by a passerby, still pushing his corpse. Pretty fucked up.
Christ this is bizarre. Poor kid, can't imagine what he must've been thinking.
My mind can't even process the imagery, this is lunacy.
I can't tell if this is true or not. That is MAJOR fucked up.

Damn, and just an hour away from home too. It really sucks when I hear news this bad in my home state. First Baltimore, now this.
Christ this is bizarre. Poor kid, can't imagine what he must've been thinking.
He was probably so undernourished that he couldn't form coherent thought. I'm just wondering how nobody noticed her all night long.
I saw this story like two weeks ago but sheesh. 43 hours. The fuck.

I hope judges will take stories like this into account when deciding on who to give custody of the children to in divorces, although I do not think it is an easy decision to make when parents going through divorce are basically trying to convince them that the other parent is unfit to take care of the children.
The mental image is just completely disturbing.
