Repblicans Outraged At Obama's Decision To End Iraq War
GOP presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman and Herman Cain are blasting President Obama for his decision to withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of the year.
"The unavoidable question is whether this decision is the result of a naked political calculation or simply sheer ineptitude in negotiations with the Iraqi government," said Romney, a former Massachusetts governor.
STORY: *Iraq withdrawal
Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman, said Obama's decision is "a political decision" and "not a military one."
The Obama campaign hit back on Romney and noted the president is keeping his promise to "end the war in Iraq in a responsible way."
"Mitt Romney didn't lay out a plan to end the war in Iraq in his foreign policy agenda -- he barely even mentioned Iraq -- but he is apparently willing to leave American troops there without identifying a new mission," said Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt.
Obama announced earlier today that all American forces will be out of Iraq by Jan. 1, which will formally end a war that began in 2003 when U.S. troops led an invasion of Baghdad to topple Saddam Hussein's regime.
Huntsman said it's a "mistake" not to leave a "small, focused" number of U.S. troops. Without a security agreement, the former U.S. ambassador to China said Iraq is "vulnerable to backsliding."
"An ideal arrangement would have left a small troop presence that could have assisted with the training of Iraqi security forces and vital counterterror efforts," said Huntsman, also a former Utah governor.
Bachmann said the U.S. has been "ejected" from Iraq and should have demanded "that Iraq repay the full cost of liberating them given their rich oil revenues. "
Romney said the American people should hear from military commanders on their recommendations for Iraq.
Cain said he would also consult U.S. commanders on the ground, adding that Obama is making a strategic mistake by publicly stating a timeline for withdrawal.
"The thing I wouldn't do that the president is doing is telling the enemy how many troops you're going to bring out and when you are going to bring them out," he said. "I don't think that's a good strategy."
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2011/10/iraq-troop-withdrawal-mitt-romney-barack-obama-/1
Our Soldiers and Marines have already done more than enough, let's bring them home.
Republicans get outraged at everything.
Fuck progress! Let's just wash our pallets with expensive scotch as we continue to fuck the American people (And the rest of the world for that matter)
Fucking republicans, they want an affirmative path to destruction.
I agreed with it one year after 9/11, hell maybe two. But throwing our soldiers into the meat grinder for no reason is fucking wrong. I'm glad it's over. It's not worth American lives, or any countries interference at this point. Too many good men have died over there, no reason to pile any more on top.
As a true patriot I DEMAND more of our soldiers die in battle
Obama is un-American for not allowing the deaths of Americans to continue

She just up and tells it how it is, doesn't she.
"Hey! They haven't given us their oil yet! We can't leave!"
And other Republicans say we aren't there for oil.
This is gonna be great.
Also: "Hey! We liberated you! You should pay us for completely fucking up your countryside!"

How can anyone support this bitch? You invade them wrongfully in connection to 9/11 and WMD's, and then when you leave years too late, you ask to be paid for leaving?

I think I just burst a blood vessel in my ass because of how fucking moronic and straight up wrong this is.
And these are the types of assholes that make decisions for us.

I can tell you how:
They're dumber than she is.
the stupid it hurts so much
I wonder if we really would have stayed there 100 years if John McCain had his way.

Sounds like a line from the Daily Show. I can just picture Jon saying something like this.
Republicans; America's inbred greedy nutjubs.
YEAH!! LETS WAIST MORE MONEY AND LIVES ON A USELESS WAR!!!
I'm pretty sure the oil revenues were the point in invading. That and having a strong military presence close to Iran.
On the other hand I'm sure Gary Johnson and Ron Paul are happy about this.
Wow, Republicans are fucking blood thirsty savages, why the hell would staying in Iraq/Afghanistan be a GOOD thing? Crazy physcos.
This thread makes me ashamed of my generation. You're no better than the worst Republican when you act like a bunch of children over a news article. You barely read it, or don't read it at all and immediately bash all Republicans even though the article doesn't reflect the thread title very well.

Yeah, we're no better than a bunch of assholes that continue to support an unjustified war in which THOUSANDS of innocent people have been killed by the US military.
Also, what's wrong with the news title? It's perfectly accurate. Did you even bother to read the fucking article yourself?

Attack the other side and provide absolutely no reasoning behind it
You really are a republican aren't you

The shit starts here. It's going to cover all of us.

You know what I mean!
It says in the article that they don't support the method they choose for withdrawing our troops. Namely, they think we should remove the bulk of our forces and leave a small group behind to advise Iraqi Security Forces and provide from Counter-Terrorism operations in the area. They're worried that removing our troop presence all at once will result in Iraq de-stabilizing again.
Ha, they are on the wrong side of this issue. We all know the war was completely fraudulent, and everybody that doesn't work for a fucking defense contractor is ready to see it end.
Why are the republicans so paranoid that the world is full of people wanting to get them?
They have mental issues. Anyone that's not a straight, white, Christian is considered a threat to them.
Attack the other side and provide absolutely no reasoning behind it

It wasn't an 'attack' so much as an observation. It's fine to disagree with someones opinions or views but when you outright call them 'blood thirsty savages' it's crossing a line that never needed to be crossed. You can voice your opinion in a civil manner and still get the point across you're upset with how they view the world.
What you need to do is stop demonizing anyone who doesn't agree with your opinions.

They title is worded harshly, it gives the impression that Republicans (by which we're talking about three or four individuals, not the unified political party as a whole) are completely disgusted we're ending the war. Which isn't true, they're upset because they believe the method we're doing it is destructive toward the Government of Iraq and irresponsible.

Wow, come on. You guys are always so aggressive for no reason. The article never said they supported the war, so much as disagreed with the manner they're going about withdrawing the troops.
In addition aside from the single use of 'blasting' in the first sentence nothing in the article implies they're "Outraged" so much as strongly disagreeing with the decision.

That hardly sounds 'outraged' to me.
It is amazing how stupid these people are. Cain and Romney said they would listen to the military commanders (which Obama has clearly done), several of them said to leave troops there for security or training the Iraqis (even though the war in Iraq is over and the Iraqi military is actually really good), and Bachmann flat-out said she thought we were in it for the oil (not true, we were there for a larger combination of much stupider reasons). Combine this with any one of the things any of them has said at any one of their debates, and you have the largest field of idiots ever to aspire to be president. This is disgusting. The three most likely Republican nominees are the secessionist, the backpedaler, and the man who pulls his economic plans from decade-old videogames. I have found no one -- LITERALLY NOBODY -- that I haven't convinced to vote for Obama after a single talk, and I live in South freakin' Carolina.
If this isn't the beginning of the death of the Republican party, nothing will be.
Wow republicans are nuts.
Am I nuts for thinking a civil war is possibly in America's future?

I wouldn't vote for any of the Republicans throwing their hat in so far either. They've got their heads pretty far up their asses.
But the Iraqi military isn't the great at all. Neither is their police force. They still largely suffer from a lack of training, equipment and social intimidation. Basically, if you join either of those services and cooperate with the Americans you run the risk of you or your family being targeted. Certain areas are better than others, Iraq is almost there but not quite yet. Not enough manpower either, if we left tomorrow there is a good chance that the elements that be would come out of hiding and take the place over.
