As soft piano music plays in the background, the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, strides through a vast, elegant hallway, skips down carpeted steps and pushes through glass-paneled doors. Then, seated, he looks directly at a video camera and asks: “What is dignity? What is respect? Are they negotiable? Is there a price tag?”
He adds: “Imagine being told that you cannot do what everyone else is doing — what everyone else is allowed to do. Will you back down? Would you relent? Or would you stand your ground?”
Those are scenes from the opening segment of a new video posted on a Youtube account listed under Mr. Zarif’s name on Tuesday: a slick five-minute production that lays out little new about Iran’s position on its right to pursue nuclear energy but which is notable for its timing and context.
On Wednesday, a third round of talks are set to resume in Geneva between Iran and six world powers. Western diplomats hope to complete an accord that would halt Iran’s nuclear efforts for six months while negotiators pursue a more comprehensive agreement that would ensure that Tehran’s program is solely for civilian purposes, as my colleague Michael R. Gordon reported last week.
I really don't know what to say about this.
Iran's definitely playing their cards well. Their response is perfect, given that they're being bullied.
If Iran can't have a nuke we should disarm Israel as well. Just saying.
In all honesty, Iran isn't a terrible country, other than being socially backwards at times. I believe they are sincere here, I mean, they don't want to get nuked as much as anyone else, so disarming everyone would logically solve that problem, it would also allow them to seek a more diplomatic solution without having to worry about being strong-armed into something on threat of nuclear war.

Yeah, especially considering Israel's nuclear policy. You know, "If we feel we could potentially lose a war, we'll just nuke every country in the world."
Wait
what
We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under
What's worse is that an idiot DEFENDING this genocidal scenario got his op-ed published in the LA Times:
Israel has been building nuclear weapons for 30 years. The Jews understand what passive and powerless acceptance of doom has meant for them in the past, and they have ensured against it. Masada was not an example to follow—it hurt the Romans not a whit, but Samson in Gaza? What would serve the Jew-hating world better in repayment for thousands of years of massacres but a Nuclear Winter. Or invite all those tut-tutting European statesmen and peace activists to join us in the ovens? For the first time in history, a people facing extermination while the world either cackles or looks away—unlike the Armenians, Tibetans, World War II European Jews or Rwandans—have the power to destroy the world. The ultimate justice?
Also, during the Yom Kippur war, Israel had 13 nukes on ready (more than enough to wipe out the middle east several times over) and called it off last minute when the US agreed to supplying Israel with more arms.
Let 'em fuckin' build some NPPs. Everyone should have NPPs. So what if they get the bomb? They're not nearly crazy enough to ever use it, and they're way more qualified, security-wise, than Pakistan, who already got it.

Iran is less crazy than Israel and more secure than Pakistan. We could honestly give them nuclear weapons and they would be better off than if we gave them to Israel or Pakistan.

Pakistan already has nuclear weapons.
We let Pakistan, a country that is basically under the control of the taliban have nukes but we won't let Iran because Israel will throw all its toys out the crib if you do.
I would feel safer with Iran using nukes than I would with North Korea and they already have nukes (maybe not plural) so I'm not that worried about Iran.
Oh my god, someone disarm this fucking crazy ass nation
Agree x10000
This is like some creepy blackmail shit, "If you don't help us, we can start WW3."
Oh my god, someone disarm this fucking crazy ass nation
But, but, they're god's chosen people, if we abandon them we're all going to hell. MUH MORAL VALUES!
Not even joking, I know a lot of people that say shit like that with complete sincerity. It's really sad.
that video has a lot of class
Why do they need NPPs? They're better off building solar plants since they're surrounded by desert tiles and they can use the uranium for GDRs
Why do they need NPPs? They're better off building solar plants since they're surrounded by desert tiles and they can use the uranium for something else
With that logic, most of the US doesn't need NPPs either.
[editline]20th November 2013[/editline]
Also, photovoltaic power stations and concentrated solar powers are a pain in the ass to maintain and more often than not they are NOT economically competitive with fossil fuels.
Oh god I just read Israels nuclear Samson strategy, what kind of country would let fly with its entire arsenal if it was on the verge of defeat? and why target cities of countries that had nothing to do with you? couldnt they just concede defeat and end the danm war.
Nevertheless, as early as 1976, the CIA believed that Israel possessed 10 to 20 nuclear weapons.[11] By 2002 it was estimated that the number had increased to between 75 and 200 thermonuclear weapons, each in the multiple-megaton range.[12] Kenneth S. Brower has estimated as many as 400 nuclear weapons

Danger,
I want to be a danger,
I want to be a danger to the world,
so that after my destruction, not a single blade of grass will remain on the face of the Earth,
or a single blade of grass for Gunther Grass’s pipe,
upon the Earth where, since I was born, I pose a danger to the world.
Because it is my right!
It is my right to live or die while annihilating my annihilators, without riding again as a crying-boy in a transport train,
Into the world-vacuum, while placing my head in the lap of a mother who is disappearing into the fresh air of the Land of Wotan,
and the urine tin darts dark-yellow specks onto the walls of the cabin – like gunshots that spray
a yellowish-reddish liquid from besides the train guards, and among them – maybe – the soldier G.G., also, wearing a steel helmet.
Iran wants to be treated like a big boy country and that means having nuclear weapons. And frankly I think we're running out of reasons why they shouldn't have them that aren't "Israel won't like it".
Even Pakistan has nukes and those are probably kept underneath the president's bed or something.
Iran is such a beautiful nation

God, the YouTube comments...
I know I shouldn't have expected anything less than sheer stupidity, but...once again, they baffled me in their ability to reach a new level of stupid.

Any politician that supported that idea would be assassinated by Mossad the second the paper boy dropped the daily times on their doorstep.
Islamic law still turns me off Iran:
Punishment for homosexuality - death
Punishment for converting away from Islam - Prison or death
Speaking against Islam - lengthy prison sentence
Speaking against government - lengthy prison sentence
Adultery (such as being raped) - 100 lashes if unmarried (death on 4th offence), death if your married
Non-Muslim having sex with a Muslim - Death
Sodomy - Death
Great legal system they have

Still more forward thinking than Israel. At least Iran isn't on a military conquest of its neighbors and actively attempting to commit genocide.
Still more forward thinking than Israel.
you are delusional if you think a country with the death penalty towards homosexuals is more forward-thinking than israel
you are delusional if you think a country with the death penalty towards homosexuals is more forward-thinking than israel
You're delusional if you think either of those countries is a grand old place, but I'd rather be in Iran than Israel. At least Iran isn't holding the world hostage. Any country with the death penalty isn't forward-thinking in the slightest anyway.
Still more forward thinking than Israel. At least Iran isn't on a military conquest of its neighbors and actively attempting to commit genocide.
Forward thinking and having good public relations are two different things. Israel is pretty much universally hated, and can't seem to intelligently comport themselves. There image suffers do to settlements when really they are more forward thinking than many neighbors.
Iran is the opposite recently, look at how people here are reacting to them. We are overlooking that they are an oppressive theocratic dictatorship, and focusing on "oh poor Iran, being bullied"
