A Hampshire pest controller said he took on "the biggest job of his career", after being called to deal with a nest of more than 5,000 wasps.
John Birkett, of Longwood Services Pest Control, said removing the 3ft (91cm) nest from a bed in Winchester was his most unusual job in 45 years.
He said it would have been "extremely dangerous" if the homeowner had tried to remove it herself.
He added: "I just stood back in amazement."
The nest was discovered by a woman at her house in St Cross, in an unused spare room, where a small window had been left open.
I... I just... how did they not... WHHHAAAATTT!?
How
Only 3 months to build that? Imagine giving them a year
How do you not HEAR that. I had one wasp in my room and it made enough noise to wake me up.
Damn!!!
fuck that
Those wasps must have been comfortable there to build such a big nest.

This was my first thought, it'd sound like someone was running a car in there, how could she have possibly not heard it.

Though he got the job done, Birkett was saddened at the death of so many wasps. "It was a work of art and they had worked so hard, but she looked at it and said, 'No, no, no - you've got to get rid of it.' If they did that in three-and-a-half months, that's amazing, isn't it? They're just little things."
ain't you a little cute murderbug! yes you are :v:

Why? They are like the isis of bugs.

She could be old, or have a huge house. Maybe she's away a lot.
Why? They are like the isis of bugs.
Why would you do something as mean as compare ISIS to bugs? What did the bugs ever do to you? :v:

For a guy whose job is to kill these things he sure sounds like he loves them.
Imagine her discovering this while showing the house off to potential buyers.

Actually, wasps are good. They might be evil, but they help dwindle down numbers of other pests aswell.
Mosquitos however should get fucking nuked from their inside out.
In other news, the rozzers are now on the hunt for a screaming, backflipping dude with a balaclava. More at 11.
Should've let other wasps start a new nest in a different room and let your home be the backdrop to World War Wasp.
I'll rather have mosquitoes than wasps.
I'll rather have mosquitoes than wasps.
I disagree, wasps i hate a lot, but mosquitoes kill more people than wasps do. I'd rather take 10 minutes of agony from a wasp sting than a week of hell that ends in my death through malaria.

Pretty sure mosquitos that transmit Malaria don't exist in England.

Just because it's his job to kill them doesn't mean he can't respect the creatures.
I would shit myself.
Do you want wasps
Cause that's how you get wasps

Yes but those kind don't exist where I live
Wasps do
I'd rather be slightly itchy than be stung by a wasp, thank you very much

That may be, but there's always the risk of mosquito transmitted diseases when one of them starts to literally drink your life force. That and mosquitoes also actively seek out living things so they can feed, as opposed to wasps which only do any damage if you piss them off.
This would be one of those instances where I would understand if they burnt the house down because they tried to use a flamethrower to get rid of it.

more annoying than the people who post bugs in threads about bugs are the bug phobia sufferers who click on the same threads and complain about pictures tbh
