I'm not exactly sure how that works with the allied ships, as they all are included in the transition to planet surface. It might have just been distance or flavor animation for groups/allies.

Well I'm placing my bet that it's a concept. After all the years of E3 people still believe what they see because they see something they want...I dunno. I'm just saying.
