Why are puns banned in "Sensationalist Headlines"?

After reading a story on a bean spill, I scrolled to read some commentary when I noticed this;
I guess he spilled the beans.

Which then had me check the forum rules, that states:
No more puns, they're terrible/unfunny and never contribute to the discussion. I'm pretty sure most people as well are tired of the first 15 posts in nearly every given thread regurgitating the same unfunny shit over and over again.
This is not the fast threads.
Guys,
Puns =/= Sarcasm [Sarcasm requires no intelligence]
Whilst sometimes obvious, they can require a subtle wit and underlying intelligence to create and decipher.
They are humourous, and thought provoking.
In a board titled: Sensationalist Headlines, it would seem abhorrent to ban the use of puns.
Puns are mostly used in sensationalist headlines of Newspapers and articles around the world, since time immemorial.
========================================
Example:
----------------
News Story:
Man discovers rare kind of peanut.
Headline:
Man discovers his nuts.
========================================
Double Entendres are a comedic and linguistic right.
Is there any true logical argument against them, or is it just conjectured/subjective opinion by the admin(s)?
My honest and humble opinion:
Lighten the fuck up, they contribute to the discussions.

Should go in the "Ask us about the Forum" thread
Puns killed starplucks parents. Why do we need a debate thread on this.
I didn't see such a thread on the main page, where is it located?
Puns were ended because of this thread regarding a former Nazi

You also seem to have missed a major point. The news section was only called Sensationalist Headlines because people wouldn't stop posting sensationalised shit from Fox, The Daily Mail, etc. It use to be a normal news section, and like other sections on FP, when the users start doing stupid shit the section gets a name for itself.
The title isn't to encourage sensationalist bullshit, it's to comment on the fact that's all people seemed to post.
