• Old issues of Nintendo Power added to Internet Archive...and taken down by Nintendo a few days later
More than 100 issues of the beloved, defunct Nintendo Power magazine have gone back into the vault after a brief period of availability on the Internet Archive. Archivist Jason Scott uploaded the collection back in February, but it amassed widespread popularity last week, when Nintendo fans happened upon its wealth of nostalgic treasures. One hundred forty-five issues dating back to 1988 were fully accessible at no cost, giving former readers a chance to rediscover more than half of Nintendo Power’s backlog. There’s no notice as to why the collection’s gone empty, but Nintendo told Polygon in a statement that it must "protect our own characters, trademarks and other content."
http://www.polygon.com/2016/8/8/12405278/nintendo-power-issues-disappear-from-free-online-archive
If you got a chance to check out the Nintendo Power magazines that were available on the Internet Achieve last week, I hope you got a chance to download them, because Nintendo has pulled the magazines from the site. This latest move comes after Nintendo pulled a Metroid 2 Remake build.
http://mammothgamers.com/2016/08/nintendo-power-collection-removed/ just horrible
Fuck Nintendos copyright lawyers
Pff who wants to remember the glorious days when you can buy more microtransactions on pokemon go instead, right guys ??
this is literally the most retarded thing I've heard of nintendo doing yet lmao this shit should legitimately be public at this point. They'll never make profit off of it, ever again.
yet another reminder that nintendo is first and foremost, a corporation.

Or to keep with the "Nintendo is behind the times" theme, a service where you pay them for digital classic Nintendo power, because they just became aware people like downloading old books or something. Just for the record, I'm neutral on the whole situation. As much as I would have loved to browse old NP and as asinine as them taking down a non-profit preservation is, what has happened has happened.
I'm pretty sure its because the bundled zelda and mario comics are being re-printed and they're releasing a compilation book of a bunch of NP interviews and articles to coincide with the NES mini.

So fuck them.

I lost all faith in Nintendo as soon as it was clear the new console paper mario game was just more sticker star horseshit. no more of their scumbaggery can surprise me now
Man Asian countries are like 100 years behind in marketing and pleasing their customers. It's so black and white "we sell the product, they buy the product" to them.
What the shit, Nintendo? At that point all of those magazines are covered under fair use for educational purposes (hence Internet Archive), besides all of that is like free advertising to them.
They pulled the metroid 2 remake too? Damn
Speaking of the Metroid 2 remake being pulled, I have it uploaded to my dropbox and will gladly give it to anyone who wants it. Just shoot me a pm. It's fantastic, by the way. I'd say that only Nintendo themselves could do better, but I don't think that's true anymore.

At this point you could fit the entire NES library and then some in an SD card and save your money.

A class-action lawsuit (or something relevant) backed by thousands upon thousands of individuals.
