At the Bristol Games Hub in South West England, Eidos president Ian Livingstone doled out lessons to both industry newcomers and industry vets. But it was his choice words to Kyoto giant Nintendo that raised eyebrows.
"Nintendo should have their IP on every platform," Livingstone said, repeating the same "Nintendo should go third party" mantra we've heard as nauseam over the past decade. "Otherwise a whole generation of young people will miss out on their games."
Yeah...no.
Yeah???
Uhhh no.
Wait no yeah no yeah
Says the developer who has the bright idea of making a new Deus Ex game an iOs exclusive.
Why are people having a go at nintendo, their console could easily be the best this generation, It's the only one I have much interest in.
Why would Nintendo? They have consoles to sell, and what better way than offer exclusives?
Animal Crossing, now for PS4!
They don't have that option. With the casual market having migrated to smartphones First party games are what sell Nentendo's consoles.
Pretty sure the people who're fans of Nintendo games already have the Wii-u.
They say as they release the better version of Human Revolution for Wii U only.
"Nintendo, turn into Sega. It'll work out better for you."

The article doesn't really specify if it's Eidos Montreal or not.
I think Nintendo should go the way of Sega or just focus on handheld devices.

As far as I know, Nintendo payed them to port the game to WiiU (or at least with the extra features exclusive)
Pretty sure Nintendo has said that they would never become a 3rd party dev, even if they stopped making consoles or handhelds
Can I have Halo and inFamous on Wii U, then?
Nintendo are rich enough to just do their own thing and completely ignore the other consoles. As long as they keep making their consoles cheap and their first party games excellent then they have me as a lifelong customer.

Most children that play video games play Nintendo systems from what I have seen.
i'd sooner see nintendo stop making games than whoring themselves out like that.

go with dignity if it comes to that
Since they're selling the WiiU at a loss, they get their money back by selling games etc, it would make sense to sell their exclusive games on other consoles, even if there was a delay, so people still had incentive to buy them on WiiU...
It would be great if it wasn't for the fact that Nintendo also sells their own console, so to help sell the console, they have to sell exclusives.
It's a shame for people that can't afford every single console on the market but that's just how it works, look at Microsoft, once they released the original Xbox they pretty much ditched PC gaming.

Third party support. It won't have Fallout 4. Mass Erect 4. GTA (for sure won't), etc.

Typo of the year.

I'm fairly sure it was a Zero Punctuation reference.
Instead of just spreading the run of the mill operation to other consoles? How about taking more chances at creating something new instead of just another "Super Mario Bros"
in the back of my mind, I want Nintendo to release games for other platforms.
the moment they do, all the money I spent on Nintendo consoles will be wasted, because when you think about it, the only reason I buy Nintendo consoles is to play Nintendo games, and other than that, it's just a slightly weaker console than the rest of the generation (in my opinion anyways)
Nintendo designs their games specifically around their hardware, which helps make them interesting.

This may have been true in the earlier eras with the big leap from SNES to N64 and then GCN to Wii. However its only marginally interesting now, IMHO.
What sort of hardware does the Wii U have that mixes things up?

Supply and demand. Most people with any sort of opinion about Nintendo fall into three groups: People that will only buy games from Nintendo's established IPs, People that will buy both established and new IPs, and people that won't buy anything from Nintendo. New IPs won't attract two of those groups and the last is content with established IPs, so why bother?

It's the only console that actually offers a different experience. Sony and Microsoft are making the mistake of just trying to run behind PC which is a race they will lose.
