• Mafia II - Feature-cutted game? No profit! Fans to start petition!
    56 replies, posted
The Mafia fanbase has started an online petition to get 2K Games to release a version of the game with more features! Mafia II’s average Metacritic score of 74 is well below expectations, and consumer interest appears to be waning, as the game’s position has dropped in many best-seller lists in its first week. "With six years in development, we believe the game is unlikely to achieve profitability." The only hope to cover Mafia II weakness is Red Dead Redemption which is still good selling. Analysts say that the cause is longer development cycles but we all know that it's not just that. That is why fans have now start petition to get 2K games to release a version with more features, perhaps via a patch. Source http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/mafia2fullgame
Erm, you cant just ask them to add new features, thats not how games work. If it was released lacking features then its the developers fault and is a 'bad game'.
Erm, you cant just ask them to add new features, thats not how games work. If it was released lacking features then its the developers fault and is a 'bad game'.
It's called a game with great potential but lacking something.
they did say that you would be able to pick up objects and smash people with them, and then the next thing they said was that they never implemented melee weapons, so how come we have pictures of vito holding a vast number of objects such as golf clubs and knuckle dusters?
The features are already in the game i.e freeride, I'm sure there is much more content in the game that 2k decided to release later as DLC. "Well, before the first and third mission, there were supposed to be 20 others. . . . now we know where that 50 hours of gameplay went. You realize 2K won't give a flying fuck right...? Besides, I bet it'll turn out that they'll release these missing missions through DLC.

i still thought Mafia 2 was awesome
How do you just "add new features" to a game? Do they even understand what kind of work goes into adding a single "feature"? It can take weeks of planning, programming, modeling, texturing etc... just to add a single new feature to a game. These people are fucking stupud.
I don't know what OP expects 2k to do "Oh here's some extra shit for free just take it what the fuck do we care that we cut it for I'm sure a good reason" then just give people a massive patch.
Mafia 2 lacked the free roam feature. Hopefully they'll add that for free in a future version. Bolded for effect.

It's pretty much like GTA 4 without all the side mission stuff.

I played the demo, and found the open world aspect of the game uninteresting aside from finding Playboys from the 20's. I like a game based in a city to feel like a city: as in tons of things are possible to do at your liesure.

I got the game and I have to say, never playing Mafia I, while everything was super pretty, the gameplay sucked and for 60 dollars, I might as well as have bought a sack of marijuana and go get baked instead. Because that's what the friggen developers were doing when they should have been working on actually implementing all the promised feature they falsely advertised to everyone in order to hype things up. One feature they did implement was the friggen HUGE DLC CONTENT option smack dab in the middle of the main menu. Now the playerbase wants blood. No doubt about it.
So happy I never bought this game.
I'm just going to wait until it's a fiver in a bargin bin.
tbh wouldn't be worth it then because I really disliked Mafia 1 anyway and i refuse to support someone who intends to make money off of dlc that should've been in the game extras like the oblivion DLC are understandable; the game was already so massive that adding more stuff on top of it was great. valve's dlc is good too. but everything else, nope
I figured it was going to be slightly bad as soon as I played the demo. Didn't realize it was missing features, too. [editline]11:54AM[/editline]
But wasn't Playboy founded in the 50's? :byodood:
1953, to be precise.
