Summary from Daily What:
Taisia Sidorova’s art teacher admits she never would have given the 21-year-old’s skills a second glance, but now she says Taisia “has a natural talent for art” — and all it took was losing the left side of her brain.
The left hemisphere of Taisia’s brain was removed after it sustained irreparable damage in a car crash. Her doctors gave Taisia’s family very little hope for survival, let alone any real recovery, but they would not give up.
It took two years, but eventually, little by little, Taisia began to come around, even taking up sketching — something she had no interest in prior to the accident. “And she was really good too,” her mother Irina is quoted as saying. “We bought her some paints as well and is now top of the class for her creations.”
“The human brain is a remarkable thing,” said one of Taisia’s doctors. “The human brain is a remarkable thing – in her case the part that remains seems to have developed to compensate for the missing part – and at the same time given her a previously undiscovered talent for art.”
(I bet someone's going to read the title and think "Autistic")
A shame that she lost half her brain, but at least she has something to live for regardless. :3:
And I think I can see why, now she'll use far more of the other side.
Hearts for her. Also, really like her paintings.

Damn.
The left side is the more logical thinking side while the right is the more creative so its not surprising.
It's sad that the crash happened, but god damn she's good
Oh boy, here come the artistic ratings.
somebody should gift her a copy of minecraft
~low-hanging fruit~

It was going to happen, just shows how much they read.

I read the entire OP, nice try though
I read somewhere there is a logical part and an artistic part of the brain, and one tends to develop more than the other in everybody, so clearly her logical side took most of the damage from the crash resulting in her artistic side developing more.
So besides that she can't use her right hand she is fully functional?
I read the entire OP, nice try though
Then why post an over used, old tired and idiotic joke when the OP already called someone was going to post an austistic joke? You either suck at being funny or you want to be extremely predictable.
Either way, shit joke.
It's interesting, I'd have thought each half of the brain had whole centers that you couldn't afford to lose - evidently you can function perfectly fine with half of it missing.
So besides that she can't use her right hand she is fully functional?
Lost some function with her right hand, her vision is also poor now.
Her speech has been affected and she's most likely lost the ability to long-term or short-term memory.
She sounds fine though apart from that, at least she can walk and interact with objects.
I wonder if this works on drug users...
Missing arm, brain injury, sudden artistic talent. Reminds me of Duma Key.
so can she get shot inb the head in that area and be semi okay

funny thing about brains, some animals actually only function with half their brain online at a time. instead of sleeping, they shut down half of their brain while the other one continues to function normally.
Huh.. Damn that's cool, almost like your kidney if other one gets busted the other one will still be there. Your balls too.
And your brain!

Anyone up for getting surgically removed the other half of your brains? :v:
Well shucks, I guess the old saying is true, anything is possible when you set your mind to it!
I read autistic, that would have made sense.
This is really cool though, becoming an artist is the last thing you would expect to happen to someone who lost half of their brain.

It's not really their fault, you know that picture where all the words are all fucked up except the first and last letter? artistic and autistic are the same words by that principle, and then all that's left to decide what the word is is context, and the title has to do with the brain, seeing autistic in the title makes sense.
How much of her personality did she retain though?
Did anybody notice a neurologist named "John Freeman" is mentioned?

Precisely why I called it - it'd be one of the few times I'd call something and it'd be right, without it being something like "the sun will set".

I really really love watching pom
I really really love watching porn
When I was younger, I didn't know what "Autistic" was, and due to speech impediments, I always said "Autist" for art I really liked.
Then again I also said "Dick" instead of "Stick", I was fucked up as a kid.
This girl in my health class only had half of her brain. She was pretty smartm
