Regardless of what you think of his actual review and this video, I do hope that you can at least agree that the metacritic score shouldn't matter to your enjoyment of the game.
also that nobody should be treated like this for a game review, in terms of the personal attacks etc.
I find it ridiculous how nowadays a lot of people who look up reviews that use a 1-10 ratings scale will assume anything under an 8 is teetering on mediocre and anything near a 5 is garbage. We might as well adopt a rating scale of 1-3 as numbers below 7 are rarely seen.
Shame Jim is getting all this flak. But at least he's a tough son of a gun and takes it, instead of backpedaling and trying to win back the masses.

Honestly, I think it's that quality about Jim I love the most: he doesn't cow easily, and he doesn't grovel to appeal to audiences.
He does what he wants to do, public opinion be fucked.
I very much am the same way, and I love that particular attribute about him.

It's obvious that Jim has a bias against Nintendo.
"It's morally okay to illegally download Nintendo Games"
And he has given games like Dead Rising 4, a higher rating than BOTW.
And DR4 is just an utter mess, badly optimized, buggy as hell, unstable Framrerate, should not get an 8, while BOTW, get a 7.

Plus a lot of his complaints in the review is utterly ridiculous.
Such as not being able to get off the Plateau straight from the start, that shrines aren't optional (despite being completely optional), that the game is too hard and so on.
there's no use in complaining about a critique, in the end it's just like, his opinion, man
if you don't like his stuff, don't support it. if you actively try to sabotage him, he's going to get more support
also many a critics are getting tired of open world games
but instead of DDOSing sites and hijacking accounts, people could've just ignored the review
'wow this is dumb' *close tab* done
this whole thing is just giving him more ammo, the same way the DigiHom fiasco
it's ridiculous to go to those lengths over one review score
even if i disagreed with the review, disagree more with the fanbase's behaviour

Thats why i have and always will maintain that a -/5 rating system is superior.
I think number ratings are stupid.
Just list all of your Pros, then list all of the cons, and let the reader make their own conclusion. If I see a 9/10 or a 7/10, I still have the exact same information, which is dick all

This is insufficient, because it doesn't take in account the weight of issues. "Good graphics" might mean something merely above average or a unique experience that is worth experiencing for its art alone, gameplay be damned.

So list "exceptionally good graphics" as a pro. It's not like a game being 9/10 actually tells you much more either.

that's why you'd read the whole thing to get more in-depth information
and they'd propably write more than just 'good graphics'

I think the issue is that everyone's scale works differently. Some people look at a 7 as 70%, which in turn is a C. And based on that some may people see that as "barely passing" or "doing fine". Some people have their personal scale set so that 50% is where mediocrity or indifference lies, but for some people that's outright failure.
