Ren and Stimpy was a Toilet humor/Black humor/Satire Cartoon that ran from August 11, 1991 - November 14, 1996. The show had 5 seasons, and 52 episodes. The show was created by Canadian animator John Kricfalusi. Reruns of the show appear on Nickelodion Canada, Austrilia, and Nicktoons, mainly at night.

Ren is a scrawny "Asthma-Hound" Chihuahua with a fairly long, rat-like, pink tail. In the series he is portrayed as being greedy, insane, delusional, paranoid, violent, and insecure (not to mention mentaly unstable). The series's creator, John Kricfalusi, originaly did the voice of Ren until he was fired by Nickelodion for not toning down the violence on the show. When Kricfalusi was fired, he was replaced by Billy West, who is well known for his role as Phillip J. Fry on Futurama (which was not out at the time). West, already voicing Stimpy, took the role of Ren's voice using a combination of Burl Ives, Kurk Douglas, and a slight "south of the border" accent. Kricfalusi returned to voice Ren in the Spike TV episodes and the unaired episodes of The Ren and Stimpy Show. Although he does threaten Stimpy because of his stupidity, Ren does care about him. His trademark saying is "You idiot!", fully pronouncing the silent E as he does.

Stimpy is a red and white, rotund Manx cat with a blue nose, purple eyelids, no tail, human-style buttocks, flat feet, and a brain the size of a peanut (despite some inteligence, such as cooking and inventing, and he is also a talented musician, can read extremely well and has some monetary counting and knowing that pork fat floats on beans.) Billy West, who voiced Stimpy, said that he based Stimpy's voice on a "sped-up" Larry Fine from the Three Stooges. His trademark sayings are "Oh Joy" or just simply "Joooooy". Stimpy enjoys creating destructive electronic devices, and the "sensory pleasures of fresh kitty litter".
[b]Censorship:[/b]
There have been alot of censoring on this show, alot having to do with Ren's short temper. Some of the censorship even lead to canclled episodes. Such as "Man's best friend" (Canclled due to the scene where Ren beats up the supporting character of that episode, George Liqour, with a boating oar, hitting him 27 times and having his head twist in slow motion. The episode was then put into the "Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon" (which we'll get into in a bit), "Sammy and Me", which was banned for the part where Stimpy gouges his eye out for a fake one, and "The Last Temptation of Ren", which was baned because it was to air with "Sammy and Me". These episodes aired on MTV years later.

The "Adult Party Cartoon" was an "Adults only" attempt to revive the "Ren and Stimpy" franchise. The show was rated TV-MA, and only lasted 10 episodes. I know that Ren and Stimpy is supposed to be weird, but when I saw the pilot episode for the Adult Party Cartoon called "Onward and Upward", I was like: "What the fuck". In one part of the episode, Ren and Stimpy start acting homosexuall, saying stuff like "I'm the pitcher, and you're the catcher" (CAREFULLY THINK THAT IN YOUR MIND WITH THE THOUGHT OF "GAY" OR "SEX"). There's a part where Stimpy looks into the bed and see's a small puddle of semen and says "Hey, Ren! These sheets come with a wet spot already!" From what i've heard, the show also had parts with naked women, lots of bad language, mainly by the humans. There's even a part in the episode "Naked Beach Frenzy" where two women are getting changed to go to the beach, and Ren has the towels on his boner. Surprisingly, the women don't notice that he towels were hanged on Ren's dick.
Overall, Ren and Stimpy is great, and if you like shows like "Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy", then you'll enjoy it, and if you want a more mature Ren and Stimpy, then watch the Adult Party Cartoon. But to me, the Original triumphs over the Adult Party Cartoon.

I fucking LOVE ren and stimpy, it is like the best cartoon that ever existed.
I watched some of the Adult Party Cartoon and it sucked - it was too different. It lacked the subtlety of classic Ren and Stimpy, and the voices were too different, as was the animation style.
This show was amazing and it gave me nightmares. I remember staying up and watching it on nicktoons one night seeing the communist flag being raised up.

Dude do you know why Billy West (ren and stimpy) didn't voice the adult party cartoon? because he thought it was terrible and ruined everything that was good about the series. because it did.
I vaguely remember this show. I can't remember what any episode was about but I remember watching it.

I watched this occasionally when I was little, but the only episode I really remember well (because it BURNED INTO MY RETINAS) was the "Ren's Toothache" one. Ren and Stimpy never went light on the horror, but it was particularly unsettling to see Ren's teeth crumble to pieces. One scene was the clincher, though:
