Sunshine Sunshine is a film directed by Danny Boyle who also directed 28 days later. It is his first film diving into the sci-fi genre but some consider it to be a much deeper film then just that. The plot: The sun is dying 50 years into the future. Earths last hope is a vessel containing a nuclear device the size of Manhattan to re-ignite the sun. The movie revolves around the group of scientists who make the journey across space to the familiar star. This is a very beautiful movie, the atmosphere is outstanding the acting is well done. Cillian Murphy who plays in 28 days later plays a role as well as another well known actor Chris Evans. The film is more focused on the scientists aboard the ship and how the journey affects them. It's hard to sum it up but this movie is a must see. While the second half of the movie is notorious for being a bit bad, I personally think it fits quite well. It also has a great soundtrack composed by John Murphy: Surface of the Sun http://youtube.com/watch?v=A8BNN6y11Js Plays during probably one of the most powerful scenes of the movie, literally brings tears to my eyes. Mercury http://youtube.com/watch?v=25OantSlvw0 The crew all goes to the viewing room to watch as mercury passes by the sun. If you have not watched this film I tell you now, do it! It's really a great movie.
This is definitely on my films to see list. I've heard nothing but good about this film.
This is definitely on my films to see list. I've heard nothing but good about this film.
It's literally the only film that has effected me emotionally. I don't know how to explain it.
The ending is weird.
Incredibly artistic film. It's one of my top five. I wasn't a fan of the second half because it kind of ruined the peaceful artistic feel of the movie, but it was still great nonetheless.

It was quite nerve racking to say the least.
Was waiting for this.

The quote at the top calls it an action thriller. Really only the last 30 minutes or so were an action thriller.
Kind of a weird movie at times, but I loved it. Good, relatively hard sci-fi movies are hard to find nowadays.
I've seen the ending of this about 4 times on FilmFour but never seen the rest of the film. The very last shot was awesome though, that's exactly how I would end the movie.
The quote at the top calls it an action thriller. Take example a certain scene where they have to walk outside the ship.
Great movie, a rare 'serious' science fiction movie, which sort of Dovetails with Moon, Sunshine providing rich, saturated hues of orange and red, and Moon with its cold blues and greys. Seriously good, I bawwwwwwed at the Mercury part, absolutely beautiful.
One of the best movies I've ever seen. I watched in theaters the day it came out and bought the DVD as soon as it came out. I've watched at least 6 times. The soundtrack is incredible.
I liked it up to the ending. I know its meant to be deep and art-housy but it really didn't do much for me.
Saw it ages ago. Rather disappointing. Had no idea what was happening most of the time, and some parts were just far-fetched, especially that end scene where the guy is standing in between blue faggot fairies and a giant wall of fire, just standing there with his arms open. Pretty retarded. Although I haven't seen it in quite a while, I'm just saying what I can remember, even though it may be distorted and faded.
I MUST SEE THIS but wasnt there another movie where they shot a nuclear bomb into the core of the earth to jump start it?
It was good up until they started explaining the plot, and then the ending. Jesus christ it had a stupid as hell ending. The whole horror part of it was nice. But it just took a nosedive into FUCKING TERRIBLE after that.
shot a nuclear bomb into the core of the earth to jump start it?
There are several, one of them is "The Core" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298814/
More fucked up than Moon, less fucked up than Event Horizon. The fucked up scale coincides with my opinions on the movie's quality as well.
I liked it alot. I enjoy these 'new realistic' sci-fi films, like this and Moon.
Watched this a while ago and now i've seen it well over 20 times. The movie is just amazing. The soundtrack just makes it 100x better!
I had picked this up about 3 months ago in Blockbuster when they were closing down for 6$. Not thinking anything of it I started to watch it... it ended up being one of my favorite movies of all time.
There are several, one of them is "The Core" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298814/
It kind of sounds to me like The Core in space. But apparently people like this movie a lot more than The Core
This film is completely racist towards asians.
If you think this is realistic, serious or deep and shit you are dumb. Every step of the way the movie messed up it's own potential in favor of shaky horror footage, vague plot and hollywood realism to appeal to people whose only idea of how anything works is through movies.
It could be that. Or it could be that you're just stupid. I think the latter.
It kind of sounds to me like The Core in space. But apparently people like this movie a lot more than The Core
Thats because it is, I like "The Core" but Sunshine is better by miles because of the stunning visuals and better plot.

The horror aspect was only towards the end of the film, and it's fucking sci-fi, it isn't meant to have total realism, i.e. the plot, but the true realism lies in the character's interactions with one another.
Sunshine was an amazing movie. One of the few that I really got into.
Saw this movie last week, it's awesome.
