Perhaps unsurprisingly it's for a new title in one of its most adored original IPs — Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. If funded it'll be a multi-platform HD adventure for the character, with the Wii U listed.

Over the last 23 years WayForward has developed more than 200 licensed titles, our most recent being Ducktales: Remastered. When circumstances permit, we also make weird and wonderful original games like Shantae and the Mighty Series. In all that time, fan letters, support emails and interviewers have made our most frequently asked question, “Why don't you guys make more original games?” Kickstarter allows us to do just that! With your help we can create a large-scale multi-console game that's well beyond our usual self-publishing budgets.
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/09/wayforward_launches_kickstarter_campaign_for_shantae_half_genie_hero http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero Mighty No 9 and now this, damn.
Why does the Ducktales Remastered have such a low metacritic score? Was tempted to get it but was kinda put off by that.

Was tempted to get it but was kinda put off by that.
Long, frequent cutscenes with slow dialogue break up the gameplay, the music remixes aren't great. It's also pretty short.
Why does the Ducktales Remastered have such a low metacritic score? Was tempted to get it but was kinda put off by that.
The two main reasons are the lack of brevity with the cutscenes and because it's "too hard." I personally loved it, but even I'm willing to admit that the cutscenes were pretty poorly paced. The voice actor for Scrooge is 94 years old and skipped a day of kemo to do the voice work, so you feel really shitty when you skip the cutscenes. As for the difficulty, fuck reviewers, reviewers are babies that don't know shit. Shantae's tan in the upcoming 3DS game, so hopefully this is just some odd artistic choice for the promo art and not in the final game.
So this is unrelated to the new shantae game that's coming out on 3ds?
So this is unrelated to the new shantae game that's coming out on 3ds?
I think the deal is that WayForward can just go ahead and make handheld games, but to make a big console game like Ducktales or an entirely new game like this they need the extra funding. So the 3DS one is just gonna happen anyway but they're essentially having Kickstarter play the same role that Disney did for Ducktales.
So this is unrelated to the new shantae game that's coming out on 3ds?
The 3DS game is a remake of an old Shantae game. If this gets funded, it will be a brand new Shantae.
The 3DS game is a remake of an old Shantae game. If this gets funded, it will be a brand new Shantae.
uh the 3DS one is a new game aswell?
the 3ds game is completely new as in the GBC game, you didn't team up with risky Boots at all. Maruhai, you're thinking of the GBC game available on the e Shop.
D'you think postmanx3 has any feelings on this?
The animations in their games are so damn smooth. I should play more of it on my 3DS

A brown female protagonist is a rare thing in gaming, it'd be a shame if she ends up white in the final game (she likely won't)

She's clearly not white in that game, even on the cover she's pretty dark skinned. In the kickstarter image she's whiter than the majority of white characters these days. She's virtually pale.
D'you think postmanx3 has any feelings on this?
hello yes i do i am excited
can someone contact treasure and ask them to make a hd mischief makers?
Well they finally showed the Mighty Switch Force costume for Shantae
this might actually be the first kickstarter i fund
I need to play the first Shantae on an emulator, I've been putting it off because the cartridge is so ridiculously expensive. I hope she doesn't remain light-skinned, simply because she and her design look much better when she's got her normal tan.

This is shaping up to be a huge undertaking and with the love we want to give it, we won’t be able to fund it without a little help. So if you have a chance, please swing by the kickstarter page and give it a read. [t]http://i.imgur.com/HjsWGQs.png[/t]
The concept artist drew her like this. They'll probably end up dropping that weird pale skin tone since lots of people dislike it.
Shantae is a cute game character and the game was not bad.
Why does the Ducktales Remastered have such a low metacritic score? Was tempted to get it but was kinda put off by that.
Because once you take off the nostalgia goggles you realize that it's a below average game at best.
This is odd. They're making a fourth game when Pirate's Curse isn't even out yet... ?
