i was rather disappointed that for skyrim Bethesda didn't take it upon themselves to impress with a better damage indication system

like you said, you really can't tell if you've done shit to anything even though you hit it with a 50 pound axe for half an hour

i feel like a game that was already pretty good could have really broken the charts with a few improvements like that

The enemies do stagger a tad, but it's rare you actually feel you're realistically causing harm to a character in a game. Usually it ends up a tale of whoever can take off those hit points faster.
