While driving home from work on Thursday evening a man in county Värmland, northwestern Sweden, was shocked to see his front door zoom past the other way strapped to the roof of another car, local paper Värmlands Folkblad reports. But as he approached his home and was confronted with a gaping doorway, he realized that it must have been his door that he had seen travelling past at speed. After quickly inspecting the doorway, the man legged it back to his vehicle and started tracking the other car. He was soon in hot pursuit, while at the same time calling the police to ask for their assistance in stopping the car. Officers finally caught up with the door thief on the motorway, and it didn’t take them long to identify the door as the one from the man’s house, according to the paper. The police and the door thief returned to the house, where the culprit was made to assist the others in putting the door back in its rightful place. The apprehended man is now under suspicion for door theft, according to the paper. It might have been a master plan - while the owner pursues the door thief, his accomplices go and rob the now doorless place.
What has the world come to, we even steal doors now. Isn't it also a bit ironic, stealing something that is meant to prevent stealing.
soon they will be stealing windows! oh wait...
Put up another door to protect the door, but they will steal that too!
lol
Shouldn't be too hard to find the Thief's house.
They obviously stole the door to stop people from getting in!
It's only a matter of time until this theft proves to be a gateway to further, more depraved acts of burglary.
I can imagine those anti piracy doing this if it was more common "YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A FRONT DOOR"
The apprehended man is now under suspicion for door theft, according to the paper.
That's a very specific crime
prehaps door theft is a big thing in sweden?
Maybe he stole to door to keep the monkeys out?
Pretty sure I saw this on a tv show once. Life imitates art
http://www.thelocal.se/39840/20120323/ Why would you even steal a door?
Good doors are worth a lot.
Unless it is an intricately-carved, magnificently varnished, exquisitely polished mahogany wood door, I wouldn't know why he would take it
Unless it is an intricately-carved, magnificently varnished, exquisitely polished mahogany wood door, I wouldn't know why he would take it
No no, that's where you're wrong. Doors can go anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand dollars. Stealing doors is not the worst way to make a buck.
No pictures of this diamond door
Not gonna lie, title made me think he was forced to dry hump the door.
It might have been a master plan - while the owner pursues the door thief, his accomplices go and rob the now doorless place.
That is genius.
Why would you even steal a door?
Sledge.
Depends what kind of door it was, you could sell a decent door for a fair amount.
Reminds me of that news story where someone stole a bridge.
