Looking for free audio manipulation software for project...

Hey guys, figured I would ask here although if this belongs in the creationism corner, sorry.

Anyway for a basic digital art project I have to make a piece using digital manipulation software.

HOWEVER, I cannot use audacity- the previous assignment was made using this. I was wondering if you guys knew of any sort of software that would be relatively easy to learn. Or Audacity plugins that would suit a beginner.

Audacity is the only good free one out there.

WavePad is fairly good, and can be acquired for free on a trial basis.
