“We didn’t listen and we let you down. We shouldn't sacrifice one of our core values in an attempt to advance another. We feel bad about that, and we're sorry,” Iwinski and Rambourge wrote today. “Us being sorry is not of much use to you, so let’s talk about how we will fix it.”The most interesting new change: when GOG fails to get a publisher to agree to flat, worldwide pricing, GOG will eat the difference themselves. “We will adamantly continue to fight for games with flat worldwide pricing. If that fails and we are required to have regional prices, we will make up the difference for you out of our own pockets.”
Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/03/11/gog-drops-regional-pricing-as-mistake-apologizes/ Absolute winners.
I wish Steam would take note
This company offers rock bottom prices and they are willing to fund out of their own pocket? How are they profitable?
This company offers rock bottom prices and they are willing to fund out of their own pocket? How are they profitable?
Because customers like being treated like people worthy of trust and respect and therefore customers throw their money at them.
Slav magic.
Squats and low prices I've bought quite some games there. Always a good thing since you find some really old gems in there. Although not all of them. Just hoping they'll get their hands on Future Cop LAPD sometime in the future.

I'm half tempted to buy it, it was a fun game and I wasted a hundred hours or so on it when I was 7.
This is why GOG is a billion times better than Steam.
This company offers rock bottom prices and they are willing to fund out of their own pocket? How are they profitable?
Software is infinitely copyable, and bandwidth is the cheap part of the equation. Sure, they may be selling half their library at $2.99 or whatever, but the overhead of selling 100 copies or 10,000 copies is nearly the same unless they have absolutely retarded bandwidth pricing with their connection to the backbone. Whereas if they were selling paper books, every book needs to be printed and shipped.
you still have to buy licenses which cost money
This company offers rock bottom prices and they are willing to fund out of their own pocket? How are they profitable?
Maybe people will finally find out that $60 pricetag and neckbreaking DRM is completely unjustified on a lot of games.
These guys deserve more. A lot more. I like it that people like the ones behind GOG exist on this planet. It's hearthwarming.
Steam is actually extremely shit when you think about it.
Steam is actually extremely shit when you think about it.
yeah how dare steam charge us money for video games? its absurd really.
Steam is actually extremely shit when you think about it.
I dunno, I quite like the deals, and the convenience of my collection being easily accessible like that. Although, to be fair, there are probably services that do it better.
Steam is actually extremely shit when you think about it.
It has its fair share of problems and is far from perfect, but "extremely shit" is pushing it.
you still have to buy licenses which cost money
Yeah, but the majority of their games are well over a decade old. I don't think licensing costs much for their older inventory.
Found out they had Pharaoh on it. I'm half tempted to buy it, it was a fun game and I wasted a hundred hours or so on it when I was 7.
Oh shit I should finally actually buy that. All I had was a copy that my godfather burnt onto a CD when I was 5. :v:
All digital game stores should learn this:
You mean "Steam should re-learn this"
As far as DRM goes, Steam is pretty good. But nothing will beat DRM free, even the best DRM in the world. That's why i will try to go to GOG first.
Aww, we still love you GoG, your better than steam, no DRM, no bullshit.
Like, seriously, the only reason people really use steam is "it has all the games" and "i can chat i guess" Nobody downloads steam because they prefer the super cool protection or unprecedented community features, they get it because there's really no other choice.

(No DRM wins out, that goes without saying.) I have a much nicer time using Steam than most of the other store fronts, like Origin.
Steam is actually extremely shit when you think about it.
Regional pricing only happens because the publishers say so. Steam is at the mercy of the publishers.
I dunno man I love Steam for its great customer support, consumer protection, fair prices, and stable and reliable client. Oh wait it has none of those things.
What's wrong with their consumer protection? They're not corrupt and are always honest when it comes to anything but HL3, but even then they don't lie, they just keep quiet about it. Remember back when someone stole some of their transaction information? Steam told us exactly what was going on, and all of the information was encrypted and virtually useless anyways. And I have nothing against their prices either, they're sales are pretty generous. The only thing I agree with is that their customer service is a bit iffy, and their client is not great but I very rarely have difficulties with it.

Where is your god now?

Stop talking about things which you know nothing about.
