when the two platforms touched each-other the trucker on the left should have lowered its platform as seeing the front wheels of the van where inside, then continue getting closer to a point where about the diameter of the back wheels overlapped the platforms. Next the left platform should have raised the platform to even to cargo level, then drove the van forward. I don't think the people in charge knew about moments eg torque.

If you're loading lifts on a truck like that, you have to expect that a single pallet can be up to a ton (though those are usually loaded with a forklift). Besides, most (newer) cars are lighter than 1.5 tons so the ramps can easily handle them.
