Father of Texas 'clock boy' Ahmed Mohamed sues Glenn Beck, Fox for defamation
The father of the Muslim teen arrested last year after bringing a homemade clock to school claims in a new lawsuit that Glenn Beck and Fox News, among others, made false and damaging statements about his son.
Mohamed Mohamed filed the defamation suit on behalf of himself and his son, Ahmed Mohamed, late last week, NBCDFW reported.
Last September, Irving, Texas, police charged then 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed with having a "hoax bomb" after the student brought a homemade digital clock to school. The school suspended Mohamed for three days, though police eventually dropped the charge.
Now the teen's father has alleged that several media outlets, including Beck and his conservative television network, TheBlaze, made false statements about his son in coverage in the event's aftermath.
"The Mohamed family are peaceful Muslims who have been falsely accused of being terrorists and engaging in a jihad," the suit stated, according to the Dallas Morning News.
I wonder why they choose now to sue them?
Is there anyone he isn't suing?
This family and Glenn can both get fucked tbh.

They're probably running out of money from donations.
"defamation"
Fox in general spews so much nonsense propaganda that they deserve all the push back.
I still think this kid is going too far with this though.
Aw, poor baby used up all his Dubai scholarship money already?
One important thing to remember - Behind every lawsuit-happy family usually stands an incredibly greedly lawyer.

Yeah... this family has proven they're more than capable of bringing the greed to the table, among other things.

There was a case where a really wealthy guy died and lawyers battled for his estate. For over 100 years. Until there was nothing left (Jennens vs Jennens)
Lawyers are mostly scumbags

C4 is not cheap
Whatever you think of Ahmed or his family, put it aside and look:
Should this go without repercussions?
Defamation is nigh impossible to win in America anyway because 1st. Am.
They're basically blanket-suing for monetary gain a year after the fact.
So yes, it should go without repercussions, because repercussions have already happened.
Everybody has already apologized, and God knows how much free shit they've gotten along with meeting famous people.
This is already far beyond repercussions.
IIRC it is Texas, so.. statutory time limit is one year. In this case, the comments are probably said after the arrest and it hasnt been a whole year since.
What repercussions did Glenn Beck, FOX, TheBlaze faced, may I ask? For saying that these people done "being terrorists and engaging in a jihad" and they staged the school suspension, arrest, and all as a hoax, they did these claims and presented them to the public as facts as mass media. What repercussions did they suffer?
The lawsuit wont net anything since America, so I dont know why you guys are so angry about this. If you dislike them so much let them waste their money in court?
Can you find me the quote where Beck said they were "being terrorists and engaging in a jihad"? Also can I have the evidence it wasn't a scam they set up? Unless you have some concrete quotes and some bloody good evidence then I dont see why you are complaining about how difficult it is to prove defamation.
Glen Beck is still alive?

Currently on suicide watch after Cruz endorsed Trump...
Instead of clock boy can we call him time lord
Instead of clock boy can we call him time lord
No. Being a time lord implies having responsibility and selflessness.
Two traits unknown to either of these groups.

From what I can remember, Glenn only brought up how the father was connected back in the Middle East. Nothing about Clock Boy being an actual Jihadi, but just using it for victim bux.
Beck invested a great deal in his admiration for Cruz. During the Republican primaries, the 52-year-old radio host was so genuinely disgusted by the rise of Trump, he fasted in prayer for Cruz to win the nomination. So deep was his love that he reportedly sank $500,000 in traveling around the country with Cruz to stump for his failed candidacy.
And when Cruz finally appeared, via telephone, on the The Glenn Beck Radio Program, it was clear that Beck was wondering: What had I just wasted a year of my life on?

Following the interview, Beck joined Burgiere and Pat Gray on the “Oval Office” couch, and poured out his heart.
“For the very first time I heard Ted Cruz calculate. And when that happened, the whole thing fell apart for me,” he lamented. “It’s my fault for believing men can actually be George Washington. It’s my fault.”
Offtopic but my friend made the point that Republicans in the US have gotten so bad that Glenn Beck could actually be described as a moderate Republican at this moment

Both sides have gotten way off balance. The right is as far right as it can go as a response to condemning everything the Obama administration has done. The left has moved right, for reasons I am really not aware of. But it was painfully apparent with Sanders, since he was considered some ridiculous extremist. Should Trump win, it will likely do an immediate 180, and the opposite will be true.
That is just factually incorrect. The Democrats have moved to the left somewhat (especially on social issues) in the last 25 or so years. Just nowhere near as much as the Republicans have moved miles to the right. America has just always been a fairly right tilted country relative to the UK, which itself is tilted to the right relative to continental Europe.

What is the dataset for this chart? (out of curiosity)
A chart of liberal-conservative scorecards from votes by Congressmen over time, and the mean of each political grouping each year.
More info in this article: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/3/31/1374629/-Hillary-Clinton-Was-the-11th-Most-Liberal-Member-of-the-Senate - I know this is Daily Kos, but they are using a generally accepted dataset which is the best measurement we can really get

It's just a funny joke, what's the matter with it
What the father is suggesting is false seems extremely likely. Several people noted that the "homemade clock" is actually just a gutted alarm clock he bought, took out of it's case, then put in a briefcase. That, and his behaviour regarding it was incredibly suspicious. Then there's the fact that when an interviewer who was trying to promote him and ask him about his hobbies was talking to him he couldn't answer even basic questions about what he did, and said some nonsense about soldering CPUs. I don't blame the kid for any of this because for all we know his dad could have forced him to do this but it seems extremely likely to me they intentionally caused the whole thing for attention, and he fooled pretty much everyone until more info came out so props to them I guess?
The whole SJW angle the world was pushing certainly helped push him into money and gift heaven.
