• How to find work/Contests

Hey Guys, I am a filmmaker and photographer. Not really sure if this question should be in this thread or not, but I am looking to gain skills and experiences by working on film sets/ independent film sets, or even being able to find contests for video or photography. Does anyone know of ways to find work in local area to get involved, or are there any websites that can narrow this down by telling me who is looking for help and where they are located? Thanks!
You need a web portfolio showcasing your work, and usually it just takes knowing the right people. Every job I've gotten was just from people on Facebook recognizing I do photo and video work and hiring me that way.
^what Trogdon said, but "knowing the right people" isn't always a difficult thing. I never thought I "knew the right people" but I've gotten plenty of work- just make lots of photographer friends, really put it out there a lot that you're a photographer, get on Facebook and post your work, etc. It's very organic and not difficult, just be patient and unrelenting.
Go to events and talk to the guy with the l lens, works for me. Ask for their business card and keep in touch.
