Heslin, who grew up hunting, said he was wary about a widespread ban on firearms, but he also said he could imagine no reason why Nancy Lanza or any parent would have owned a weapon like the AR-15, a semiautomatic modeled after the military's fully automatic M-16.
"The sole purpose of those AR-15s or AK-47s is to put a lot of lead out on the battlefield quickly, and that's what they do. And that's what they did at Sandy Hook Elementary School on the 14th," Heslin said.

When he wondered aloud how such guns could be privately owned, someone shouted, "The Second Amendment!"
btw the comments on the Youtube video are all filled with nuts claiming the shootings didn't happen and he is an actor

Correction: Bushmaster
Why ban assault weapons and shit when they're not looking at the main category of weapons that are used 100% of the time and that's pistols
I love how people are all afraid of semi automatics and see them as "Quick shooting death machines"
Oh no the advent of modern technology and the usage of basic reaction energy to operate a pull system.
the guns issue is probably the only issue have mixed opinions on.
And that bastard tries to put blame on the Goddamn mother. Fuck him. It's a shame that his kid died, but put blame where blame rests. Adam did it and trying to point to his mother, as if it's her fault is goddamn irresponsible and needlessly finding a scapegoat.
Correction: Bushmaster
Calling it an ar-15 is fine if you ask me. It's the platform of the gun after all.
Y'know, I really respect the pain that this father is going through and no amount or meaning that can be put into words or actions will bring his child back and heal that wound...but I'm sorry, banning assault weapons (or weapons at all, quite frankly) is not going to solve the problem. Unfortunate as it is, bad things happen in this world and there's precious little you can do to prevent it. This isn't Minority Report, and we can't see these things before they happen.
There will always be mentally unstable people out there, and if they are unhinged enough to commit such a violent act, they're going to find a way to do it whether it be with a gun, a bomb, a knife, or whatever else they can come up with. These people need help. We shouldn't be banning guns, we should be reforming our healthcare system and giving mentally unstable people the help they both deserve and desperately need. THAT'S what is going to lower the chance of a school shooting or a similar atrocity, not banning the weapon that was used.

Because AWB's are feel good bills that are designed to make soccer moms feel safer when dropping their children off for school.

He was making fun of the media, who after the shooting referred to all AR's as "bushmasters"

I find it just fucking stupid how people are suddenly considered experts after a tragedy happens to their immediate family. They then tour around the country and get paid shit loads of money to speak at events. People like the Rachel family after columbine and shit.
A comment from the video:
Painfully sad for all these families. People who are worried about being disarmed by the politicians should channel their anger towards the politicians and not towards grieving parents who are dealing with the pain of losing their child. Obviously the same evil politicians who are trying to weaken and disarm the population, are also telling grieving, vulnerable parents what to say to Congress and to the press. The only hoax centers around the Lanzas* and whether Lanza's mom was CIA
lmao whats with all these loonies who think the big bad government will come to their house, huff and puff, then blow their house down and take all their rifles?

the same type of person who thinks that the shooting didn't happen or that Lanza's mom was CIA or some non sense.
Fucking hilarious how people think this was a conspiracy theory.
Sometimes shit just happens and without reason. I guess that's why school shootings fuck with people every time a major one happens.
guns are for pussies anyway

Well, it seems pretty prevalent for people to not like (or flat-out disregard) the fact that bad things will happen, often without any discernible (or understandable) reason. This is why every time something goes wrong, the media goes on a witch hunt, looking for something or preferably someone to blame, rather than just saying "Shit happens." And in a case like this, instead of actually trying to remove the cause, we're simply getting rid of the tool. Wrong way of going about things.
It's still so fucked up that people are talking about assault weapons and how nobody needs them, and how they should be banned. Last i remember, people didn't need TV, or air conditioning, movies, or entertainment in general. Banning something solely because they don't need it is worse than allowing something unneeded to continue. If you want to talk about how nobody needs it, and all it does is cause problems, look at TV.
TV, people get news on the world and such through it, and entertainment, education and other things, are also exposed to biased news networks, and reality TV that promotes dangerous behavior and leads to people sitting on their asses all day looking at a 5ft screen watching The Situation punch snookie in the face in a bar. Part of the reason america is fat is because people start watching TV, and start thinking that watching TV is better than going outside and doing something.
"Assault Weapons" are used in small amounts of crimes, and can kill you, but are useful tools. Lots of hunters i know use such rifles and shotguns to hunt deer. What they don't use, or give to friends out of these deer, is donated to the local food pantry to be given out to those in need.
I live very close to this (I'm in South East CT) and a few people I know went to this.

Look what happened to New York state, it is borderline that shit.

Real men hunt deer with their fists.

Baby steps. It may not be apparent now but certainly could happen in the future. You take a step forward each time you "ban" something.
Shall not be infringed is pretty obvious.
If I recall, the ban in NY requires you to sell the firearm that breaches their ban with in one year out of state or turn it in, unless it changed.
Yeah. There are conspiracy loonies out there. But to say that the government will never come and take firearms from it's people is wishful thinking. It will happen someday, or attempt to happen. It happened during Hurricane Katrina, for example.
Personally I'd be more terrified of someone rampaging with a bunch of knives.
Not realy sure my opinion on the whle "ban guns" situation though.

He had the rifle in the car, and shot the kids with two pistols.

Goes to show the media is pretty much able to twist the truth to further it's own agenda.
everyone flipped the fuck out over the fact he had a rifle and didn't concentrate on what actually happened

man of the few actual reports i've read of this incident they all only mentioned by name, the ar-15 BUSHMASTER.

his mom didn't secure the guns, it was easily accessed by Adam. That is not responsible gun ownership
