Some stuff is definitely going on with the algorithm. Over the past few months a few of my videos have been getting tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of views from "Browse Features", compared to an average of a few thousand views normally, and when I haven't even uploaded a video for months. I wonder if they're trying to redistribute views away from those so-called blacklisted channels and towards everywhere else.

I don't know what's up with their algorithms.
This is a great opportunity for real competition to rise but I guess it's easier said than done. Someone with money and skill ought to give it a shot with a big PR campaign, but it gotta be good.
As far as gaming media goes, a competitor already has arisen and it's called twitch. I've been seeing a mass migration of people from YouTube to twitch because it's actually a consistent source of income and allows interaction
Ending it with Me At The Zoo made me really sad.

For example, it takes me about 2 hours to upload 8 minutes of footage to Youtube in 720p with an under 1 mbps upstream, I technically can stream video with this connection but it's got to be in 480p or 360p at best. Shit sucks man.

I like the first ever video uploaded on youtube at the end.

It just takes time for the music industry to realize it's an "issue" and put pressure on Amazon.
