Mega Man Movie Possibly in the Works at 20th Century Fox
20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have started development on a fan favorite in the video game world. Heralded as one of the most popular video game franchises in history, MEGA MAN is now on his way to the big screen. Feel free to be cautiously optimistic.
One positive sign of things to come is Chernin Entertainment. David Ready and Michael Finfer are overseeing for the company, while Peter Chernin produces. Together they have a pretty solid pedigree for sci-fi action movies, including the recent/upcoming Planet of the Apes films. Mike Ireland and Ryan Horrigan are overseeing for Fox.
To give you a better idea, while Chernin brought us films like the recent Planet of the Apes films, Finfer is screenwriter for the most recent Agent 47 movie.
I'm betting five bucks that it won't be an animated film.
I want to think this is a good idea... I really want to.
I saw this the other day here

But the article brought up a point on why it might not be true.
So here's the deal. The Tracking Board "exclusively" revealed that 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment are teaming up to develop a Mega Man movie for theaters. Chernin is best known for their sci-fi portfolio; recent films like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Oblivion. Peter Chernin, the namesake of the company, is said to be the producer with David Ready, Michael Finfer, Mike Ireland and Ryan Horrigan acting as overseers/supervisors.
Hollywood Mega Man rumors are nothing new. In all honesty this one isn't any different from the rest. Here's why you should be skeptical:
Capcom's theatrical adaptations have historically been announced by the company directly via PR. Even projects that have yet to be realized, like Devil May Cry and Lost Planet, came from the horse's mouth. The Tracking Board relentlessly presents this news as a confirmation, not a rumor.
When Capcom does send out PR for these sort of things, they typically give it to viable news outlets. Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Empire, to name a few. The Tracking Board is not exactly a well-known place. The legitimacy of a Mega Man movie is immediately thrown into question when it's not announced through an A-tier source. You'll also notice, at the time of this writing, none of those guys have picked this up.
An animated Mega Man series (confirmed by Capcom and actually revealed by a legitimate source) will spearhead a new direction for the franchise in 2017. As I learned earlier in June, the show aims to be the core of a multimedia initiative spanning comics and toys. My source entertained the notion of a film, but it was not a priority as of June this year. The goal is to grow the brand from the show and its subsequent tie-ins. If successful, other avenues might be explored.
There's always the chance we're wrong. For all we know Capcom could come out in the next few days with a statement. But if I had to put money on it, a film is not happening anytime soon.
They could make a pretty cool live action film tbh
A Pixar Megaman movie would be the best thing ever. Heck, even a 2D version from Madhouse animators and a good director could be amazing. Live action would be just shit.
First it was Sonic, FNaF, Mighty No. 9, Borderlands and now Mega Man get's the treatment.
I don't feel optimistic for any of them (with the exception of the FNaF movie) if they take the live action route.
I bet it will be based off this Megaman

Okay I blame Mad Max for this, the only one who would work as a movie is assassins creed and metal gear, everything else sets off awkward.

Mad Max is not a movie based on a game.
soundtrack by protomen or no deal
When's the 2nd kick starter for this?

Wh-
How?
Oh god. Capcom and Konami are having a Freaky Friday.
This, and a Dead Rising PC port would just convince me I have been sent to heaven for repenting my sins. Holy shit.
Megaman's doll face looks uncanny as shit to me, up close.
I'm guessing they'd probably try doing something like The Protomen if they wanted a more "mature" film.
At which point I want them to go all in and make it a dystopian musical.

You do know Mad Max is not based on a game right? Right?

Uhh
Mad Max came out in 1979
I don't know how this movie will be but it better have Dr. Wahwee
Animated movie that looks like that Astroboy reboot, or bust.

I want to see Mega Man in his casual Astroboy look that you see in Mega Man 1's ending
I am okay with this, only if they get The Protomen to do the soundtrack.

The Megas are better
The Megas are better
The Megas are pretty mediocre
The Megas are pretty mediocre
Herd you were talkin shit
tbh Mega Ran > The Megas > The Protomen
I'll stay cautiously optimistic if this is true. That being said the comic series isn't bad.
Okay I blame Mad Max for this, the only one who would work as a movie is assassins creed and metal gear, everything else sets off awkward.
I don't really see the Mad Max connection you're seeing?
Metal Gear would definitely not work well in movie form, you'd have to sacrifice a lot for a watered down plot.
Knowing Capcom's history, an actual Mega Man movie would inevitably be accompanied by a Mega Man: The Movie: The Game that is outsourced and loosely plays like a Mega Man game but has so many things wrong with it.

If they keep the story close to the comics then it could be a great movie imo
Herd you were talkin shit
tbh Mega Ran > The Megas > The Protomen
Thing is though is that the Protomen's music is a bit more universal then either of those.
The Protomen's story told through their rock opera holds up on it's own without you even having to play Megaman. I've gotten a ton of friends into em and almost none of them have touched a Megaman game.
The other bands just go "lets remake/remix this video game melody" or "lets sing a song about (megeman character here)" while the Protomen, by and large, have their own original things plus their incredible covers.
Also the Protomen are just insanely talented, those other bands two are good yeah, but The Protomen blow them out of the water
But seriously--just make this into a movie and we're all good.
