• BBC attempts to smear Bradley Manning post conviction with article about his 'disrupted' family life
The trial of Bradley Manning has cast light on how he came to leak thousands of classified documents, and on his troubled childhood in a family splintered by divorce and alcoholism. Susan Manning liked vodka - it was easier to hide. "If you put vodka in certain drinks, you can't really smell it," said her daughter, Casey Major, in a courtroom in Fort Meade, Maryland, last week. She also liked rum and beer - and, really, whatever was in the house. When she got pregnant for the second time, friends and family had mixed feelings. One relative, Debra Van Alstyne, testifying in court, said: "At first I said, 'Oh great.' Then I thought, 'Oh no.'" At the time, Major was 11. Sitting in the witness stand, Major, now 36 and a homemaker who lives in Oklahoma City, counted on her fingers - adding up the weeks that her mother was pregnant - and drinking. She put her hands in her lap.
Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23780581 Because if you release state secrets you obviously can't be normal and your mother must have drank during pregnancy...
How is this a smear? This seems more like the opposite, garnering sympathy for Manning.
I thought the article was going to be about a BBC article, not just your opinion on a BBC article.
If Manning used any of this as some sort of defence they it can't really be a smear to talk about it.
If Manning used any of this as some sort of defence they it can't really be a smear to talk about it.
Yeah, I don't understand. It explicitly states this is what was said in the courtroom. What the hell, OP?
Sounds like someone is a Daily Mail reader.
It's on the first goddamn line, the trial has cast light, not the BBC
Seems not even the OP bothers to read the actual news article nowadays. [editline]22nd August 2013[/editline] We might as well not even post articles; just have a slogan generator for each major political ideology or world issue, some cocaine, a baseball bat for each poster and a Thunderdome.
OP you don't care about him at all do you? You just want to post something that makes the BBC look bad whilst failing horribly to do so.
