The Russian government has no problems in allowing Berlin to get more information from Snowden about the latest wiretapping scandal. The Kremlin believes that the former agent of the U.S. intelligence services , Edward Snowden , is free to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in Germany in the case of telephone eavesdropping conducted by the U.S. National Security Agency to German Chancellor Angela Merkel .”

"Nobody allows him to violate the Russian president's condition not to do harm to the U.S. But he is on Russian territory after lawfully acquiring temporary asylum, and therefore he is free to meet with anybody, and we can't obstruct this," Peskov said.
Sources: http://rbth.co.uk/news/2013/11/02/kremlin_says_snowden_is_free_to_cooperate_with_german_law_enforcement_31402.html http://thedailyjournalist.com/world-national/putin-ready-to-cooperate-with-german-authorities-in-latest-spying-scandal/ (danish): http://www.dr.dk/Nyheder/Udland/2013/11/02/1102102151.htm [editline]4th November 2013[/editline] Addiional sources: http://www.thelocal.de/20131103/snowden-free-to-talk-to-germans-kremlin http://en.haberler.com/kremlin-denies-snowden-is-breaking-terms-of123456789-320523/ Because it's apperantly impossible to edit OP due to some bug.
That could've had so much sensationalist potential. GERMANY AND RUSSIA TEAMING UP AGAINST THE USA
That could've had so much sensationalist potential. GERMANY AND RUSSIA TEAMING UP AGAINST THE USA
Axis factions resume talks on action against the US..
Then Germany accidentally invades Russia again
Axis factions resume talks on action against the US..
Shit, if it actually came to that, id be all for kicking usa off our collective lawn.
Then Germany accidentally invades Russia again
Oh what a shame that would be.
I wonder if he regrets going to Russia knowing he had allies in other western governments like Germany.
I wonder if he regrets going to Russia knowing he had allies in other western governments like Germany.
Except at the time he didn't, and I'm not sure if Russia has extradition to the US, but I'm almost positive Germany does.
Except at the time he didn't, and I'm not sure if Russia has extradition to the US, but I'm almost positive Germany does.
Russia doesn't, Germany does. He could get asylum in Germany but for that to happen he needs to get to Germany first, which is difficult considering his passport situation. But if he was refused asylum in Germany, he could get extradited to the US because of the extradition treaty. Most people in Germany don't want that as far as I know but it's within the law, even if we're on bad terms with the US right now.
Axis factions resume talks on action against the US..
Russia was never an axis power...
Trust a former KGB agent eh.
Russia was never an axis power...
That was never a serious comment
Ironically it seems, the Russian government is free to tap peoples phones, enter their houses without warrant, plus they still have a secret police (now named FSB) and are actually ruled by a former secret police agent. Mr Snowden doesn't seem to be entirely aware of (or cares for) this however.
I know I'll slag off the country that's keeping me safe from incarceration
It does seem rather strange he would leave a country on the basis it is clamping down on freedom of speech and thought, to go and live in one which is pretty much a dictatorship in all but name.

The big thing about the United States doing it is the fact that it is both reinforcing the idea that they see themselves as the world police, and that the US Government are hilariously hypocritical (see: 'murican freedoms)
It's different because everyone knows Russia is doing that kind of thing and most people condemn it.
Since when? Most of the powerful people in Russia today are still pretty much unpunished for their crimes.
Russia was never an axis power...
Let's just go with the League of the Three Emperors, I'm sure Austria won't mind joining
plus they still have a secret police (now named FSB)
what FSB is not a secret police, it is a principal security agency in russia. sort of like the CIA or NSA.
what FSB is not a secret police, it is a principal security agency in russia. sort of like the CIA or NSA.
It's the direct successor to the KGB, is full of former KGB agents, operates in the same manner, and is far more powerful. The FSB is more like if the FBI, NSA, and DEA were all merged together and given more broad powers. And full of former Soviet KGB agents and much more corrupt. For fucks sake, it's even headquartered in the same building the KGB was in.
Since when? Most of the powerful people in Russia today are still pretty much unpunished for their crimes.
Condemnation =/= Punishment
Condemnation =/= Punishment
How much has been done to punish them?
