• Gary Johnson hits the magic 15% in polls in Colorado, needs 4 more states to enter debates
For example, in Virginia Johnson went from 10 percent support last month to 12 percent in this new August poll, which was conducted from August 4-10. When Johnson and the Green Party's Jill Stein are added to the presidential question, they shave three percentage points from Hillary Clinton (46 percent to 43) and two from Donald Trump (33 percent to 31). In the wild west state of Colorado, Johnson hits the magic 15 (which he must get nationally in at least five polls to get into the presidential debates), up from 13 percent last month. In that state, the addition of Johnson and Stein to the mix cuts five points off Clinton (46 percent to 41) and three off Trump (32 to 29).
http://reason.com/blog/2016/08/12/gary-johnsons-poll-numbers-rising-in-bat We just may see a 3rd debater come this fall even though odds are he'll get ignored more than Carson did.
Although I don't support Johnson in the slightest, I think having him the debates would be a good thing.
Although I don't support Johnson in the slightest, I think having him the debates would be a good thing.
It might actually inform voters better on Johnson's policies (as opposed to word-of-mouth as of now, which can be skewed and uninformed), and discourage those voters from voting for him.
Although I don't support Johnson in the slightest, I think having him the debates would be a good thing.
it would be so painful to donald because he would look like the crazy raving loon when yhere are two well organized people next to him
I don't support him but something to introduce new opinions into politics is probably a good thing. Also he'll take votes away from trump :v:

I think the 15% bar should be lowered in my opinion. Part of the reason they aren't polling so high in the first place is because not a lot of people even know who they are. I'm sure they'd look a lot higher if they got decent media coverage and could participate in debates even without 15% (make it like 10 ish)

They raised it so the third parties can't be a threat to the status quo.

But also because most people don't want a third party who can't win anything in their debate. Though no denying that both parties have strong interest in maintaining the status quo by raising the required thresholds.
