Ikea Group gives €100 000 000 to all full-time employees in their annual bonus program that goes to strengthen employees' pensions.
The sum will be allocated among all the countries where Ikea operates on the basis of the country's share of total wages, the company said in a press release.
In Sweden, employees will receive 27 000 SEK (€2900) each.
All full-time employees who worked more than five years, will receive the same amount regardless of salary level or position.
Part-time employees receive a sum proportionate to how much they work.
The payment will be available when the employee retires.

Around $3600 USD for any Americans here.
Pretty neat bonus, honestly.
It's a Christmas bonus so big it turned into a Christmas miracle.
So, is that American and other non-European Ikea stores too?
All countries where Ikea operates.
Those IKEA workers are going to have a good christmas, good on them though should net them some really nice gifts for their families.
That's fantastic for the employees. That amount can really change a life as small as it seems.
Ah, it's when they retire that they get it. That's unfortunate.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding but doesn't this mean they won't get the money until they retire?

thats exactly what it means
Think of how shitty it must be to quit just before this announcement :v:
Now if only this would trend.
its not a bonus guys, they just put 100B euro's into the company pension program
i mean its still a big deal, most companies don't even have that anymore
My quaterly bonus at Walmart this time was $64

If you quit it wouldn't matter, most pension contracts go void if you quit the job. You have to work X years before you can leave and have pension payout and even then its not as easy as quitting.

It's pretax money, so they could get it at age 59.5 without penalty but idk how pensions work in other countries
Either way that's great retirement is a very real thing you should really actually save for

That's like 5 years on average though
Tbh I don't see what's so fancy about this if it's only going into a pension fund. I mean, employers here have to put an amount equal to somewhere around 9% of earnings for each employee into a superannuation scheme of the employee's choice, which the employee can access once they retire.

I got a $20 gift card for certain groceries stores nowhere near me.

spend every waking minute of your day searching for any job that isn't walmart
if you're not in an economic hellhole of a city, you should be able to find something that pays slightly higher and offers you chances for slight raises over time. I moved from a shit retail job much like walmart to a deli job that is much easier for a 10c raise and opportunity to get more performance-based raises in the future.
I wish that there was ikea in my country :(
How many times do people get paid in Sweden anyway? In Austria every employee gets a summer bonus and Christmas bonus and some companies also adds their own bonus, effectively making it 14-15 salaries a year.
