I think the doomsday clock is a load of BS tbqh
I think the doomsday clock is a load of BS tbqh
Yes, that was the only thing mentioned in the video
So, what I got from this video: -Apocalyptic predictions based off Zodiac descriptions (seriously, didn't we learn the last time with the Mayan shit????) -Predictions based off of the environment of third-world countries and not looking at the demonstrable progress made on global warming, climate change, and its effects over the past few decades by first-world countries -Reinforming us that we have nukes and they are bad I hate these videos.
tl;dw no, we are not nearing the end of the world or human civilization
-Predictions based off of the environment of third-world countries and not looking at the demonstrable progress made on global warming, climate change, and its effects over the past few decades by first-world countries
What progress? Starting to use regenerable power? All the while it's still first world countries still doing the most of the world's pollution, I'm sure that matters a whole lot.
It's not even new year yet
It's not even new year yet
if the world ends on new years i am going to be so maaad
I like how the whole doomsday prediction in 2012 just became a huge joke to everyone by New Years. ..though I think people actually killed themselves.

Generally it's a pretty safe bet that you're dealing with crazies or people grasping at straws when they're using an open eye as a symbol.
What progress? Starting to use regenerable power? All the while it's still first world countries still doing the most of the world's pollution, I'm sure that matters a whole lot.
Compare how fast our temperatures were increasing a couple of decades ago to now and you'll see we've been making large improvements. We're still suffering from the effects of global warming obviously, but large progress has been made to slowing it. [t]http://ete.cet.edu/gcc/style/images/uploads/GlobalSurfaceTemperature.png[/t] And obviously first world countries contribute the most to global warming. I'm pretty confident that the third world countries aren't anywhere near as industrially active as first-world countries are. That doesn't mean that "oh no the world is going to end." Especially when EPA predicts that with continued lowering trends that global warming will eventually taper off by 2100 (which was the date predicted for the global warming apocalypse scenario in the video) [t]http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/images/science/ScenarioTempGraph-large.jpg[/t]

It's funny how every generation think they're gonna see the end of the world. You're gonna die and other people will live on. Face it.
"We're the last generation" and "this generation sucks" are always the biggest fears of every generation.
Thought it's an interesting video
pseudo-scientific rambling, I am not surprised
"We're the last generation" and "this generation sucks" are always the biggest fears of every generation.
It's not fear. Deep down they want it. Somehow the idea of living to see the end of the world thrills people, i think. Mostly religious people, since they think they'll meet their creator and shit.
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin Engines stop running, but I have no fear 'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
Or wasted a shitload of money building those stupid underground bunkers
George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney because of it. Some kid threatened to shoot my school up that day, so I stayed home and played Fallout: New Vegas as "End of the World" party for myself. :v:
I wouldn't use a doomsday clock to measure time. It's pretty much always wrong, it's absolutely useless. You'd always be super-late or super-early. Or it would just not work at all.
Scientists proved it and they were right: it's only a matter of time.
I love this channel, I'm subscribed to it for like a year now my favourite
It has gone good for millions of years, why would it suddenly end?
Do you even realize how many civilizations have risen and destroyed themselves in those millions of years? We seem to be no different though i hope i can be proved wrong about that.
Do you even realize how many civilizations have risen and destroyed themselves in those millions of years? We seem to be no different though i hope i can be proved wrong about that.
Humanity was never completely obliterated in those years, and yes obviously civlizations have risen and fallen. If you are referring to "we" as the U.S.A. somehow being completely erased from the map, then don't get your hopes up. As a global super power we aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Do you even realize how many civilizations have risen and destroyed themselves in those millions of years? We seem to be no different though i hope i can be proved wrong about that.
There's a difference between a civilization losing its ground to more influential cultures to eventually be swallowed by them and the death of an entire country's population, so I don't really see what makes your point relevant. Few civilization have "destroyed themselves" to this day, the only example that comes to mind is the Easter island natives. In most other cases, they were destroyed by a stronger one, and that rarely included complete extermination of their population.
Do you even realize how many civilizations have risen and destroyed themselves in those millions of years? We seem to be no different though i hope i can be proved wrong about that.
Civilization hasn't existed for a million years.
Quick! Let's salvage this thread!
Yes, we are. Every day brings us closer to the inevitable end of our existence.
Civilization hasn't existed for a million years.
We haven't discovered a civilization that is a million of years old yet*
Humanity was never completely obliterated in those years, and yes obviously civlizations have risen and fallen. With global means of communication we are all basically one civilization even if we do fight amongst each other a lot. One could argue that Western civilization and Eastern Civilization are the two different ballgames but nowadays the differences are subtle. Unless we are talking about local culture which can differ vastly.
