• Kids today don't know much of anything about politics or world history.

Now it seems logical that kids wouldn't know much about international affairs, that's understandable, since they're just kids and it wouldn't interest them. However, today I saw that to the extreme. In this history class, there was an ongoing "class debate" on which idea was better, set up by the teacher. And the task today was to write the "Hows, Whens, Wheres, and Whats" of the idea. I chose communism, and as I was writing, this kid comes up to me and tries to get some cheap answers out of me, despite the fact that he doesn't even know my name. And then he says quite possibly the stupidest thing ever, "It's like, in Russia, right?" I look over at him, I chuckle, and I say "No, it's really not." Follow this up with about 20 minutes of the teacher asking questions about 2 of the groups (Communist and Socialist), and people giving me funny looks as about only 2 other people answer these questions. So tell me, do the kids in your area appear this lazy and overall oblivious to ideologies and international affairs as mine do?
I don't hang around with kids so I wouldn't know.
Socialism FTW.
Must I remind you it's not an easy topic to cover.
About 99% of my classmates are complete fucktards who don't know shit about history. Two weeks ago, in US History, one of my classmates asked the teacher "Didn't slavery end in the 1950s?" I wanted to kill him so badly.

I almost feel sorry for how ignorant the school children are these days. They know little to nothing of subjects they shoud.
Socialism FTW.
In theory.
Some kids in my class thought a picture of Jefferson Davis was actually Thomas Jefferson.

Girl in my class asks me what history class I take I respond Western Civ. She says, "Isn't that about cowboys and stuff?" I died a little inside.
Kids have always been stupid about these things as far as I know. My brother said that a classmate seriously asked if China and Japan were the same country. He's in grade 12. He said the teacher was so dumbfounded at the asinine question that he didn't even acknowledge the student's existence for the rest of the class.
20th century: Some dude buys a sandwich, and shoots this guy, then Europe has a kerfuffle and fights like little girls, then America comes along and shits on France. Then this versailles thing comes along and pisses off an Austrian. The Austrian then gets into power and kills some dudes. Then some Russians start a troll war with the USA, then some dude lands on a space rock in the sky. Then some band takes some drugs and they were like "WHOAAAAA LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS!!!!" Then one of the dudes in that band dies. Then some russian said fuck this, and killed his country. Then some Afghans decided to start more trouble after fighting the russians. Then they speak with this Iraqi dictator. Then America walks in and shits all over the place and steals the oil. Then some Bankers took out more than they could chew. And then the world got fucked up. Then this Black dude came into power and is currently cleaning up the shit.

Then again I don't give a shit about your history.
They know little to nothing of subjects they shoud.
Like spelling.

Kids were always ignorant on topics such as politics and history. They weren't geniuses in the 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, or 50's either. I mean, basic knowledge like when slavery was abolished in the Uniter States is something you should know, but you shouldn't be winning any debates.

I'm a kid today and I know lots!

But these kids don't even know basic things. As I said, the one I spoke of wasn't aware that any country other than Russia was "Communist" (as defined by the UN), and thought it was still communist.
I used to have interest in politics until I realized they are a joke. I mean, up here especially, nothing really gets done. You'll get the NDP in power, they'll make a few good changes around the province, but then come the next election, the Liberals are back in power, they obliterate whatever good changes the NDP made, and reinstate their whole show. It's pointless, everything ultimately just stays the same in the long run regardless of who's in power, because nobody has the ability to make any long terms changes. News, well, I'd care more if I had cable TV so I could watch the news. Unless there's a war, or some new lifeform on a planet, then I don't really care about the news enough to bother looking it up. Facepunch has become my news hub, sadly. And lastly, I did care about politics and news when I was a kid, now I'm an adult (well, 18), and I'm very indifferent to the world and what goes on in it. I... I... just don't care. That being said, it seems I still know a lot more about world events than all my friends. maybe my standards have just become higher :geno: But, if I were ever talking to a group of political activists or something, I'd be trailing far behind them.
Every tale has a conclusion darling.
I love you dear.
I can so beat that, girl asks question (forgot the question) answer is consumer, she says no its the person who buys things, this was 3/4 of a year into a economics class.

You should know that places like North Korea and North Vietnam were or are communist. I don't really care about their current history.
Politics are really pointless, it's full of nothing but mere buzzwords, in which nothing really gets done. People should spend less time debating issues and instead directly confront them.
Okay, I can see where you're getting at. You should know that places like North Korea and North Vietnam were or are communist. I don't really care about their current history.
Well that's my point. They don't know any of it.
The amount of dumbasses at school is ridiculous, the ignorance in the building makes me want to scream. I'm glad I am only there for 2 hours a day now, I take my AP classes at a different building. I look forward to getting the hell out of there and up to college, a place where the intelligence to idiocy is higher. You are correct rimor
Kids have never known much of either.
