In an interview with GameSpot, Guillemot said that the publisher has “an opportunity to take [the series] to another level.” Having a portfolio of other titles has given them the luxury to “take all the time it takes to make the experience fantastic.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ubisoft-on-vivendi-takeover-threat-reinventing-ass/1100-6443817/
When you say, "Let's give it the time it needs," does that mean you haven't set a time for it to make its return? Most people are expecting it'll be back next year, is that the case or will it be back when it's ready? It will be back when it's ready. That's when we feel we have something there. And that isn't necessarily 2017. Yeah. It will be when it's ready. Assassin's Creed 2 pretty much established the template that most open-world Ubisoft games use. So when you say "revolutionising" the IP, does that mean a real reinvention of that formula or the same one with a few new ideas? It's difficult to say right now. You'll actually make up your mind on that when you see it.
What they should be doing is dropping the Assassin's Creed bullshit and building a fucking badass pirate game with the boat tech from Black Flag.
does that mean a real reinvention of that formula or the same one with a few new ideas?
Fucking zing
theyre adding survival elements, a crafting system and a hunger bar
More like take infinite years if you want
theyre adding survival elements, a crafting system and a hunger bar
don't do it, please
theyre adding survival elements, a crafting system and a hunger bar
Assassin's CreedZ inbound.
theyre adding survival elements, a crafting system and a hunger bar
They're also making it truefp so you can look down at your leg while it gets eaten by a black bear on top of the Sistine Chapel.
Assassin's CreedZ inbound.
Meet Uggio, a stone age assassin who is killing the stone age templars Desmond needs to kill the stone age templars so they don't make the dinosaurs extinct, which would be bad. Also they are doing some real spooky shit Unfortunately in this era infrastructure is poor so you need to feed yourself and make your own weapons. if the hunger bar drops to zero, you die! You can also gain perks if you kill x of x enemies! Worlds are randomly generated, with over 128913940245789256782034 possibilities.... on each world you can leave a note for other Uggio's to find if they get the same one... inspirational The story culminates in a battle between a nimble templar with a bow and arrow on top of a fat templar with a club riding on a mammoth

Many Assassin's Creed games suffer of having been rushed. 3 and Unity could have been masterpieces if their ambition hadn't been played down by how several of their gameplay aspects. If they give an Assassin's Creed a whole lot of time, care and effort, I truly believe all the great artists and developers at Ubisoft could make an extraordinary historical game.
Big surprise, people lose interest when you release the same game every year. Hopefully with extra work and polish they can really make an interesting game for once.
3's problems were more story and character writing than gameplay.
yeah, I could not finish 3 because it was just so boring in terms of story and character writing black flag on the other hand, i fucking loved black flag so much but i really couldn't play it a second time unfortunately
3's problems were more story and character writing than gameplay.
They also ditched some of the gameplay stuff that had been in from ACII to Revelations. ACIII had its flaws, but the effort to create something new (including our first taste of naval combat) was good.
I'm a huge fan of AC and honestly I wouldn't mind if they took the next 5 years off. The game needs a damn break so they can take a breather and finally bring something fresh and coherent to the table. Especially when it comes to the modern day story... jesus fuck what a mess.
They can't come up with any new marketing bullshit to "revolutionize" gaming into the ground again, so give them some time.
Man, I just want them to give us actual fucking gameplay whenever you're out of the animus, AC4's first person hacker thing was boring, and everything else relating to not the ancestor your playing as was just plain boring, I think they even completely removed outside the animus gameplay with the new one. Just let us explore, fight templars n shit outside the animus, rather than just cutscenes of whats happening.
I just don't get Ubisoft. They have so much manpower, resources, and money, which explains how they're able to make AC games that have huge amounts of graphical detail, they look great, they sound great, they even have done the research into the political figures you stab, but the gameplay is just so bland and derivative, and it's the most important part of the whole 'game' thing. One wonders what it would be like if all of Ubi's power was given to From for another souls-like, or the M&B devs, or Obsidian, hell I don't know, just someone that isn't Ubi.
The thing that got me with Assassins creed is that I'm waiting for a game where it's fully in the 'future' (modern age) rather then short snippets.

Almost everyone I talk to even people who like the series overall have nothing but bad to say about the future segments. The slow first person bullshit in Black Flag was some horrid stuff. To be fair the games really felt like they were building up to a full game with the modern day arc until Desmond died and all that training ended up being pointless. I liked the modern day segments until the end of 3 but after that they just felt like they were there because of series tradition.
3's problems were more story and character writing than gameplay.
I actually didn't see anything wrong with the characters and story in 3, honestly. I even think it's one of the best in the series, if not the best. People often praise 2's story, but come on, it's generic and predictable as hell.

It wasn't until Syndicate that they made a stride as to what the next Assassin's Creed's modern story will entail. Although I've liked each game for different reasons, I'm not blind to their short comings and I'm glad they're taking some time to develop something that is hopefully better than their current formula.
I never liked ass creed. The climbing aspect of it was always just (hold the stick and jump occasionally). There was no skill involved in it at all. A game like I Am Alive had a great climbing mechanic, where you've got fatigue and you need to prioritize which path to take so you don't use up all your stamina (and potentially health) in the process.
I don't know about 3 and up because i stopped playing assassins creed after 2 when they started making ezio spinoff games, but the future sections in the first 2 were really interesting. It seemed like they were building up to desmond becoming an assassin and taking on templars in the future, but then i guess they realized they could just milk the series dry and scrapped that idea completely.
I actually didn't see anything wrong with the characters and story in 3, honestly. I even think it's one of the best in the series, if not the best. People often praise 2's story, but come on, it's generic and predictable as hell.
The problems with AC3 were that the main character was incredibly boring and had no drive of his own, most of the game is just Connor bumbling about until something happens around him. There's also the issue that the game has like 80 different characters across the story, many of whom the player is expected to know about before they're introduced. It was only when the Mr. Adams I was walking with having a conversation brought up brewing that I realised I was talking to Samuel Adams who invented Sam Adams beer. It also had a problem where a character would be introduced in the middle of a conversation and then they wouldn't show up again for another 40 hours when we're expected to remember who they are. It's like they expected people who played AC3 to know a fair amount about the American Revolution, including battles and people, and did a very bad job of introducing them.
The thing i liked the most about 3 was how low to the ground and visceral Connor felt vs the other Assassins who felt more nimble and light. But i hated Connor as a character and the story was horribly dull.
More like take infinite years if you want
It still won't be enough for Ubisoft to generate something new. Yeah, I fully expect them to add survival elements or something like that because duh, innovation.
Assassin's CreedZ inbound.
assasincraft by mojubisoft, includes pointless features, troublesome updates, and terrible comunity communications [editline]24th September 2016[/editline] maybe theyre making a video game version of assassin class
