Alright this is starting to bleed over into my youtube channel. Mods, please just delete this topic.
I have faith in Rockstar.
How is this bad? Really? I don't see the problem with this. Hell, I can't imagine how excited they were to be in the game.
Why are you taking this as an indication that the game as a whole will be deadly serious?
FUCK I GIVE UP
I have faith in Rockstar.
As do I. I think this is good. I feel like we will still have the crazy pedestrians, shouting odd things, but the gang interactions will feel more realistic/authentic
Oh no Rockstar gave ex-cons a potential chance to lead a normal life for some dialogue in a game, totally sucking all the soul out of GTA!!
What's the big deal? Why are people making this into a big thing? I don't see why this is bad. GTA has always been more serious than silly. Comparing what homeless people say in GTAIV to what gang members will say in GTAV when you haven't even heard their voices or script yet is dumb. Your OP and comments are more about your opinions about Rockstar than about what the article actually says. All they are doing is rescripting the gang member voices to make them more realistic and you're making it seem like Rockstar is turning into EA.

I hadn't played the earlier ones, so I wasn't invested in the story, but it was just too much for me. GTA seriousness is fine for me, because its still enjoyable.
OP is overreacting big time
This is a good thing u nerds are trippin
I was wondering why everyone was rating OP dumb, but then I saw what he said below the quote.
After GTA 4 and Max Payne 3 I'm starting to feel like Rockstar's games are just excuses for their horrible writing team to stroke their massive dick egos. They think they're great writers but writing dialog is all they know how to do. Since the reviewers gave them so much positivity for their "oscar quality writing" in GTA 4 I'm not totally confident that GTA 5 won't have the beginning of most of the missions be driving the car halfway across the city while listening to some peripheral character's verbal diarrhea.
GAME DOZ NOT HAV DILDOS AND FART JOKES, GAME IZ BAD. WHY U RUIN GAME R STAR.
I'm okay with that.
If you want goofy, play Saints Row. GTA decided to take a more serious, but still fun approach to their series, while Saints Row took a goofy take. We have two crime-based sandbox games, one serious and one goofy. Both are great fun. Just take your pick.
"There's black gangs, there's Latino gangs, and we recruited a guy who gets gang members, like actual gang members, real gang members. I mean, El Salvadorian gang dudes with amazing tattoos and one of which literally had gotten out of prison the day before. And we brought these guys in to record the gang characters because, you know, you don't want a goofy LA actor who went to a fancy school trying to be a hard gang member. There's nothing worse than that."
Yeah fuck Rockstar for hiring authentic people to voice act instead of getting some upper-middle class white guy to do it.
Jesus Christ this is a good thing stop having a heart attack.

It's still unrealistic, humorous and exaggerated, just not as much as saints row.

I said they've been taking a more serious approach with their games. They're still a bit goofy and funny as hell, but you can't say that with each game they haven't been going for more realistic styles of gameplay and darker plotlines.

GTA is more of a crapsack, black comedy world then truly silly. The comedy is from how horrible the places are and how it's normal for random people to go on killing sprees (ie the player). As long as they keep the humor it should be fine.
What's even silly or un-serious about this? They wanted authentic voices for the gang characters so they got actual gang members. That's called great casting and really nothing else.
I didn't enjoy GTA 4 one bit but Red Dead Redemption was a masterpiece so I have faith in Rockstar.
Never got to that one, only recent Rockstar games I've played are GTA 4 and Max Payne 3. Should I try it?
I adored GTA 4, I adored Max Payne 3, and I adored Red Dead Redemption. COME AT ME ROCKSTAR. STICK YOUR FAT GAMEDEV DICK INTO MY WALLET AND TAKE ALL MY MONEY.
darn!! realistic gang dialogue rather than the rehashed brainfarts of upper middle class white video game writers! i'm gonna be so upset if i don't hear a gang member say "bust a cap in your ass" in the latest installment of grand theft auto
SR1 was tryhard wannabe gangster and SR2 was a bit sillier and over the top. SR3 went over the top and into the atmosphere.
SRIV is absolutely insane. SRV will be totally unpercievable by mortal beings, as its non-euclidian geometry will cause those of feeble mind to boggle and go insane with horror at the incrediblity of its wackiness. This is not a bug, but a feature.
Never got to that one, only recent Rockstar games I've played are GTA 4 and Max Payne 3. Should I try it?
I've never felt as invested in a video game's story as I have with RDR.
