An explosion was reported at the Marcoule nuclear plant in southern France on Monday, with a risk of a radioactive leak, emergency officials said. One person was killed and three people were injured, including one seriously, local newspaper the Midi Libre reported. The accident happened at a processing center for nuclear waste, the report said. A safety zone has been established, reports France 3's local broadcast of the Languedoc-Roussillon. Marcoule is located in the department of Gard, ten mil north of Marseille, and has been used as a nuclear site since the 1950s. Nuclear power reactors in the plant today is no longer in use. However manufactured MOX fuel, a kind of reprocessed nuclear fuel of uranium and plutonium at the facility.
Oh for fuck sake! No more nuclear power setbacks. It's a developing story to. -No leak
Oh great, more fuel for the anti-nuclear fire.
Massive anti-nuclear shitstorm incoming
god fucking DAMMIT WELP, TIME FOR SETBACKS
Time to help India develop those Thorium reactors, fuck this shit.
The human race will now be set back another 3 years due to luddites.
The human race will now be set back another 3 years due to luddites.
everything nuc-u-lar is bad ban the bomb ban the bomb
Something exploded in my country and i didn't know about it until right now.
At least France has large numbers of nuclear reactors. I like it when the French don't give a shit what other people think and do it anyways.
God damnit, here come the anti-nuclear power faggots.
At least France has large numbers of nuclear reactors. I like it when the French don't give a shit what other people think and do it anyways.
78% of their power is produced by nuclear plants
78% of their power is produced by nuclear plants
That's what I'm talking about!
I fucking hope France got balls of steels for once! And don't pussy out like Germany.
Oh great, more fuel for the anti-nuclear fire.
How many nuclear power plant disasters are necessary before it becomes more than just an "anti-nuclear fire" and a legitimate concern Or does it go by bodycount I'm just a pesky environmentalist who doesn't know nothing I guess
Yaaay more radioactivity in the world. I'm just 3 more nuclear blasts from having 64 testicles.
I fucking hope France got balls of steels for once! And don't pussy out like Germany.
Wow, it'll be the opposite of WWII!

And that goes for the bodycount too.
People would think that incidents like this would go against nuclear power, but think about it: if these old designs fare so well then recent technology must do great

Didn't see this coming. See ya nuclear power.
I don't get why people think thorium reactors are better. The Thorium chain produces the same toxic stuff as the other reactors. [editline]12th September 2011[/editline] What I REALLY hope is that this is used to propagate the French Fusion reactor they just cut the spending for.

If we're going by body count. Can they just shut down the 40-50 year old reactors and replace them with new ones? Not all at once but they do need to be updated.

Or is this another one?
Oh shit son apparently it's close to the Spanish border, you damn incestuous humpers better not contaminate my precious Spain with your french radioactivity!

But no, your right, lets "become one with nature" ie; the dirt, lets die and bury ourselves in dirt, for the earths sake, it's better off without us.
I don't get why people think thorium reactors are better. The Thorium chain produces the same toxic stuff as the other reactors.
it's because it's got nuclear in it's name and when people think nuclear they think bombs

They're not free energy, but they're the cleanest and one of the safest forms of nuclear power we have.

But yeah, I agree.
