It just rained. It smells nice. Why?
Ozone.
It cleans the air.
It is just a matter of preference. Some people don't like the smell, I do.
When the water evaporates and later condenses they take some 'extra' stuff with them - which makes the usual smell we know (it's usually due to pollution).
Shit's fresh
It just rained. It smells nice. Why?
Nitric acid, sulphur and other atmospheric polutants are pulled down from the upper atmosphere with the rain, these are released on impact with the ground. Incidentally these pollutants also cause acid rain, have fun dissolving. cleans the bums on the streets. on a serious note, the moisture in the air is what you are smelling. also fast threads.
If you live in an urban area, it's a chemical reaction to the asphalt, or the tar, atleast. I used to live in a small town, though, not sure if it's like that in the big cities.
I live in a relative small town with many trees and grass. It also smells exactly the same as the dew in the morning.
I want to know why it smells salty (?), before it rains.

I want to know why i get great pain in my ribs before it starts to rain.
It just rained. It smells nice. Why?
It doesn't. It smells like fish to me.
Oh yeah, I fucking love this smell
Have some people on FP never heared of google or what. I see a ton of people asking questions they can find out the answer to in 3 seconds by typing the exact question into google. Link http://science.howstuffworks.com/question479.htm
I want to know why i get great pain in my ribs before it starts to rain.
Some people feel when its going to rain or storm For example kids around the age of 4 are being very hyperactive just before a storm is coming. Animals also have this sometimes. I don't know the exact reason for this
He wasn't literally asking, it was more of a rhetorical question. It is meant to discuss it.
I have a fucking terrible nose and rain smells bad here. :saddowns: Fuck you polution fuck you!

That's why animals are a reliable way to judge weather, birds don't fly as high and just before the rains come they land and get into cover if they can. Cats react to it aswell and snakes get to their burrows.

Nah we won't but it's usually acid rains around cities and motorways, that's what causes corrosion and shit in limestone buildings.
I live next to a swamp. It smells like dead bodies.
I don't like the smell
It rained a day or 2 ago and it flooded my basement now it smells like moldy carpet.
I want to know why i get great pain in my ribs before it starts to rain.
HAve you injured your ribs previously? It's possible that changes in pressure can cause pain or other feelings in the body before it rains. My friend's knee used to itch before it rained.
I want to know why it smells salty (?), before it rains.
If you have some experience you can tell to the minute how long 'till it rains even. By the intensity of the smell. I loves it. :3
God pissed everywhere and cleansed the Earth of filth
I want to know why i get great pain in my ribs before it starts to rain.
Some people have past injuries feel pain in that area when it's about to rain. I've heard it's due to the pressure drop before it rains but I have no proof of that. My moms hands hurt (she basically has arthritis, just not yet) when it's about to rain. Another friend gets a headache until it actually rains. Also I don't think he means the asphalt/tar smell. That one's very unique but obvious cause it smells like freshly poured tar. The smell he means is the one that you get no matter where you really stand.
